While filming 2013's Now You See Me, Isla Fisher had a near-death experience. While filming one of her scenes, she nearly drowned after something went wrong during her stunt. Although she was feeling some panic, the actor was able to keep her wits about her and save her own life.

Some celebrities are asked to, or on their own, will alter their physical appearance for a character. Some celebrities will even perform dangerous stunts.

While filming 2013's heist movie Now You See Me, Isla Fisher had a near-death experience. Fisher plays the character Henley Reeves in the film. She was shooting a stunt for a scene in which her character, an escape artist, performs an escape act while submerged in water inside a tank when things took a deadly turn.

According to ladbible.com, Fisher discussed what went wrong with the stunt on On Demand Entertainment. "I was in a tank of water - my character is submerged in a tank and piranhas are dropped on her head."

Fisher continued, discussing how she became tangled up in the chains. "And whilst we were there - we shot it over three-and-a-half days - even though I had a quick-release magnetic thing on my handcuffs, the chain that went between my ankles and my wrists was not able to be broken, and it got stuck underneath the slat and I was trapped."

The actor also discussed the kill switch in the tank. "There was a quick release switch that could have emptied the tank of water in 70 seconds." However, as a result of becoming tangled, Fisher was unable to reach the switch.

Fisher discussed the scene, "They had a guy who was off-camera, but he was a long way away with a can of oxygen. By the time I realized I couldn't get up and beckoned for him, I realized that I had run out of air. Luckily, I managed to get free and stay level-headed and got out before it went even more horribly wrong."

Panicking for a moment while trapped inside the tank full of water, The Great Gatsby actor added that she had been thinking, "Not in a swimming costume. No one wants to go in a swimming costume."

Sometimes, a celebrity's actual reactions and the emotions they're experiencing while shooting are included in a film. If something goes wrong, for example someone hurts themselves on set, or they experience real fear or surprise, several celebrities have been able to remain in character.

As a result, many watching believe the actors are truly connecting with their characters - until the scene ends, and it's revealed they had not been acting. Some of these scenes are kept in the films that are released to audiences.

In the film, Now You See Me, when Isla Fisher's character Henley is performing her escape act, as Fisher bangs against the glass, looking really scared and seeming to beg to be let out, she isn't acting. Apparently she was actually terrified and begging to be let out!

According to ladbible.com, Fisher discussed the experience with On Demand Entertainment, "I was very scared. And I was banging and saying 'Set me free!', but everyone just thought I was doing fabulous acting. They thought I was being Meryl Streep in the tank - actually I was drowning!"

Isla Fisher isn't the only celebrity to have had a near-death experience during filming. There are a few other celebrities and stuntpeople that nearly lost their lives due to a dangerous stunt or accident while shooting. Some have even lost their lives on set.

She discussed her experience on Chelsea Lately according to an article in Rare. The Wedding Crashers actor said, "I was actually drowning. Everyone thought I was acting fabulously...no one realized I was actually struggling. I had run out of air."

The actress revealed On Demand Entertainment that she should have had some sort of warning signal in place in case something went wrong, because her character was supposed to look like she was in trouble for her escape show.

"They had all these procedures set up, but I realized we had forgotten one basic thing, which is that you need a safety word or safety signal when things are going wrong."

According to the Daily Mail, Fisher remarked that she "didn't see herself as brave." She stated, "I don't see myself as particularly brave. I rely on gut instinct to accept a role. If something terrifies me I am going to do it."
