Though Austin Butler has said filming Elvis was challenging, the actor received critical acclaim for his performance. But the biopic film isn't the last that will be centered on Elvis' life; a new film is slated to star another young Hollywood heartthrob.

According to multiple sources, Jacob Elordi will be the next actor to appear as The King on film, directed by none other than Sofia Coppola.

A Film About Priscilla Presley Will Star Jacob Elordi

Though the film Elvis centered on the star himself, Sofia Coppola's upcoming project will center on Priscilla's life. The film, titled Priscilla, is based on real-life Priscilla's memoir, which is titled Elvis and Me.

The New York Times bestseller inspired Coppola's script, and Coppola selected Elordi to play Elvis and Cailee Spaeny to play Priscilla (rising star Olivia DeJonge portrayed Priscilla in the Elvis film).

Deadline reported that Elordi wasn't the only actor Sofia Coppola considered to portray Elvis, but it doesn't seem as if Austin Butler was offered a repeat opportunity to portray the late star.

The film is set to film in Canada, and Coppola will collaborate with a crew that has long been behind the scenes on her films.

Jacob Elordi Has Said He Relates To Elvis' Struggles

In an interview with GQ, Jacob Elordi spoke about the inspiration the Elvis biopic offered him as an actor, relating Elvis' experiences with being exhausted by trying to play a part for his fans.

In that interview, Elordi noted that he'd researched celebrities from that era, including watching interviews with Elvis. He even did an impression of Elvis with GQ, which might hint at what viewers can expect when he appears in Coppola's upcoming project.

Elordi also admitted that he'd considered quitting acting, especially after a string of teen rom-coms (The Kissing Booth trilogy), but he's probably grateful he didn't quit before being offered the opportunity to portray Elvis — and change the narrative of his career.

There's no word on the release date for Priscilla just yet, but the cast is expected to begin filming this fall.
