Jameela Jamil, has been a vocal advocate and activist for women and minority empowerment and diverse representation in the film, television, and modeling. She was an activist long before she got her big break on the smash hit NBC sitcom The Good Place, and now she is using her boosted fame to uplift the voices of those who are silenced even more.

In a recent Instagram post, Jamil shone a light on Aaron Philip, who is the first black, disabled, and trans model to sign to a major modeling agency.

Philip just earned a feature in a major magazine cover; she is now one of the stars of Moschino's Fall 2020 campaign. It's her first major high fashion campaign.

Philip was born with cerebral palsy, and in the last two years she has made history and caught national attention by signing with renowned Elite Model Management in 2018, and appeared on the cover of Paper Magazine.

Her campaign shoot this time around was photographed by renowned duo Luigi and Iango. They both said it took them "a minute" to accept this project. They said their shoot with Philip is a modern interpretation of Marie Antoinette.

Philip has credited her presence on social media for her success. In an interview with Vogue, she said, "I figured that if I tried to apply to a major agency, they'd be less accommodating if there wasn't a public call to it." In other words, the fact that she already had a following on her own before the agency signed her was a huge boost.

Philip has detailed her aspirations to be a model on social media in the past, and created a sizeable following through her curated online content. Since signing for Elite, Philip has worked with Marc Jacobs, Sephora, and now Moschino.
