Jameela Jamil is among the celebrities who are defending Meghan Markle following the Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Markle and Prince Harry agreed to sit down for a two-hour interview with the popular host. The couple opened up on the racist abuse Markle received after joining the British Royal Family, which was among the reasons the pair left the UK.

The interview also includes a segment in which Markle revealed that she’d considered taking her own life due to the abuse.

Jameela Jamil Makes A Valid Point On Meghan Markle’s Abuse

Jamil, known for the role of Tahani in NBC comedy The Good Place, made a good point about the abuse Markle has been subjected to by the public and certain media outlets since her relationship with Harry.

“Can’t believe Meghan time travelled backwards to make this happen,” Jamil captioned a photo of Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

The snap isn’t just any picture. It’s a shot of Prince Andrew hugging Virginia Roberts Giuffre. The American activists is one of the most vocal survivors of the sex trafficking ring operated by convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. She claimed she had been trafficked by Epstein and his ex-partner and associate Ghislaine Maxwell to a number of men, including Prince Andrew.

With her caption, Jamil is taking aim at the treatment Markle has received from some British tabloids, where the Duchess appears to be constantly framed in a negative, racist light.

Meghan Markle On The Rumored Feud With Kate Middleton

In the interview, Markle also wanted to set the record straight about some media outlets pitting her and Kate Middleton against each other.

In a widely-reported story from 2018, Meghan allegedly had made Kate cry during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting for Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding.

"The reverse happened," Marlke told Winfrey.

"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something—yes, the issue was correct, about the flower girl dresses—and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings."

Markle said that Kate apologized and sent her flowers and a note.

“[…] which is what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone...to just take accountability for it,” Markle said.

The former actress said she was unable to give her own version of the story. At that point, rumors of a feud between Meghan and Kate had already spread.

"They really seem to want a narrative of a hero and a villain," Markle also said in the interview.

"She's a good person. So much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity where if you love me, you don't have to hate her. And if you love her, you don't need to hate me," she added.
