Comic book adaptations are all the rage, and though they're hit and miss, they've been part of the big screen scene for years now. They're even making their way to the small screen, with adaptations like The Sandman functioning as some of the most-anticipated projects around.

Marvel and DC are usually the big boys, but in 2008, Wanted turned into a hit in its own right. The adaptation starred James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, who started plenty of intimate moments on screen. McAvoy opened up about filming those scenes with Jolie, and his words weren't overly positive.

We have the details on what he said about it below.

James McAvoy Is A Talented Actor

Ever since he was a teenage, James McAvoy has been involved in the world of professional acting. During his nearly 30 years in the business, he has continuously demonstrated that he is a legitimate talent, and people now know that they can expect a great performance when he is involved in a project.

McAvoy has done it all in the acting world. He's starred in his films, been featured on successful shows, and have even taken the stage to perform live in front of adoring fans. While doing so, he's managed to impress audiences on a regular basis.

To date, his involvement in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise and the X-Men franchise are his biggest achievements in film, but he also did amazing work in the Unbreakable franchise, and in the It franchise, too.

McAvoy has had plenty of other hits, including an underrated action flick from the 2000s.

He Starred In 'Wanted' With Angelina Jolie

In 2008, James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie starred together in the action thriller wanted. Based on the comic book miniseries by the legendary Mark Millar, wanted was a film that was poised for huge box office success from the very beginning.

The film was able to score a 71% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, as it had some genuinely great action sequences to offer. No one was expecting The Godfather, and though the movie has its faults, it was a fun thrill ride for people to watch.

At the box office, the film was able to make nearly $350 million. This was a solid return for the studio, and in no time at all, a sequel was announced.

Sadly, the sequel never saw the light of day. Just two years ago, director Timur Bekmambetov talked about the sequel and how he would switch things up, but to date, there is nothing set in stone. If a sequel happens, fans of the first film will gladly rush to theaters to go and see it.

The movie itself had some strong points, especially the chemistry between McAvoy and Jolie. Their kissing and intimate scenes were a popular topic on the interview circuit, but McAvoy's response to these questions caught some people off guard.

What He Said About Kissing Her

So, what was it like for James McAvoy to lock lips with Angelina Jolie while filming Wanted? When speaking with Today, McAvoy said, "It was her first day, it was her first scene. I had been on the set for two weeks — it was like, ‘Hey, how you doing, nice to meet you, I’m James, oh, we’re going to do a kissing scene now!’"

That's one heck of a way to kick off a working relationship with a co-star.

Separately, he touched on kissing Jolie and filming intimate scenes. Many men would have gladly switched places with him, but the actor was brutally honest when talking about the experience.

"It was uncomfortable, sweaty and not very nice,” he said.

To be fair, the actor did say that these scenes are always tough to pull off.

"You’re meant to do the kissing last thing, but you end up doing it first thing, just after you’ve had your breakfast and you’re all funky in the mouth. I rarely manage to be fully in the moment ever when I do a kissing scene or the sex scene. If I were truly in the moment, then I would worry that I was molesting someone," he said.

With some explanation, it's understandable why McAvoy felt the way that he did when performing these scenes with Jolie. There is a lot of pressure on both parties, and clearly, he'd rather be filming some dialogue than some smooching.
