Jane Lynch is a talented actress, and fans have loved the many characters she's poured herself into over the years. IMDb lists over 200 credits for Jane; she's impressed audiences literally hundreds of times, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

Becoming Sue Sylvester was a total trip, Jane admitted, and she always puts a bit of herself into her roles. Which is why it makes sense that her looks had something to do with one particular casting call she answered.

As Slate related, Jane really likes to get into character. And it was easy for her to do so when she was cast in 'Julie & Julia.' It was a "rare non-comedic role," noted Slate, which seemed like it wouldn't necessarily be up Jane's alley.

And yet, the actress rose to the occasion. Well, she didn't need to rise; Jane confirmed that Nora Ephron cast her in the role of Dorothy. Oddly enough, Jane had only met Nora a few months before, she told Slate. And Nora said at the time that perhaps the two would work together one day.

Then, months later, Lynch received a call from Ephron, who led in with 'you're the tallest person I know....' What a reason to get an acting role, right? But obviously, Jane wouldn't have been offered the job if she wasn't also immensely talented.

While comedy has been her go-to for decades already, Jane isn't averse to acting in more dramatic roles. It's about time she was appreciated for more than the ability to get a laugh out of audiences; she can even make them cry.

When it came to this role, Jane probably dove in just as deep as she did with 'Glee.' She does have a way of becoming each character, sharing a bit of her personality with the on-screen version of herself.

But it must be nice for a tall lady to finally be embraced for her height in Hollywood, instead of being told she shouldn't wear heels. Not many taller women can really strut their stuff on set; especially if they're working with someone as short as Tom Cruise or Sylvester Stallone (yep, they're the same height).

Regardless, Jane's made a name and some excellent cash by just being herself, and by that we mean both tall and hilarious. It's nice to see her break into other genres, though, especially since 'Glee' is over! Fortunately, Lynch has plenty more projects lined up, though she might not look as tall in her next few movies as she did in 'Julie & Julia.'
