Twenty-five years have passed since Martin Lawrence starred in the 1995 action-comedy adventure Bad Boys, but that did not stop the actor from joining Will Smith in a recent sequel. Bad Boys For Life (2020) showed just how much the last two decades have changed the world of cinematography, humor and identity politics. However, for Lawrence, the film sequel marked something way more personal: his own child’s transformation.

Lawrence remembers 1995 as way more than just the year that Bad Boys came out—it was also the year he and his ex-wife Patricia Southall were expecting their daughter Jasmine Page. During the years between the first film and the most current one, Jasmine literally grew from a tiny baby to a full-grown adult.

A Daddy’s Girl Through And Through

Over the years, Lawrence and Jasmine developed a super close father-daughter relationship. Jasmine has even recognized her dad as one of the most positive influences in her life. For Fathers’ Day, the Duke University alum wrote a gorgeous message on her Instagram in order to celebrate everything Lawrence has done for her.

“I’m so incredibly blessed that God gave me a father like you,” Jasmine wrote to Lawrence, “You’re extremely loving, dedicated, passionate, hard-working, patient and hilarious. You’ve set an incredible example, and you’ve treated my sisters and I like queens.” So sweet!

Jasmine was also sure to clarify that her good relationship with Lawrence isn’t anything new. In fact, it goes all the way back to the days that Bad Boys was playing in theaters. “Since the moment I was born, we’ve had an unbreakable and unique bond. I love you daddy,” she wrote.

Lawrence & The Joy Of Fatherhood

If Jasmine likes being a daughter, Lawrence loves being a father. On National Daughter Day, the actor made an appreciation post for his three girls and shared a sweet family photo of the four together. “My girls are my world,” he wrote.

According to Lawrence, fatherhood completely changed his perspective on life. While children traditionally learn from their parents, the actor’s girls did a lot of the teaching, too. “Having daughters has taught me so much and I’m forever grateful for the laughs, the unconditional love, and the bond we’ll always have,” Lawrence told his daughters.

Jasmine appears on the far left side of the photograph wearing a stunning orange sun dress and simple gold jewelry. With one hand wrapped around her dad’s back, Jasmine is not afraid to show Lawrence a little bit of affection.

Standing in the middle of the photo surrounded by his daughters, the proud papa seems to be grinning from ear to ear. Dressed in simple black jeans and a classic black T-shirt, Lawrence could not be happier to be with the people he loves the most. While the actor’s life has totally changed since the 1990s, it definitely seems to have evolved for the better.
