Jeffree's big move was one of the first announcements he made after being plagued by a year full of scandal and ridicule. In August 2020, he shared with fans he was on his way to Wyoming to look for a second home there. By 2023, Jeffree is spending all of his time on his 70-acre ranch in Casper, Wyoming, accompanied by over 100 yaks. Has the drastic change in scenery and lifestyle caused Jeffree's impressive net worth to dwindle down?

How Much Is Jeffree Star's Net Worth Now That He Doesn't Live In LA?

According to online sources, Jeffree Star's net worth as of 2023 rings in around $200 million. While he moved to Wyoming for a slower-paced life, his net worth hasn't taken a hit from his more subdued way of life. According to court filings, Jeffree has moved all four of his businesses to Wyoming, including Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which is now valued at over $1.5 billion.

He also opened a distribution center in Casper, a project that he talked about opening since first moving to the area. He wanted to ensure he was putting money into the pockets of locals by bringing his brand to Wyoming, and this distribution center is the perfect way to do so. The distribution warehouse ships out orders for the star's marijuana-focused loungewear line "Star Lounge."

He's accumulated most of his net worth through his YouTube channel, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and clothing lines. He's also worked as a social media influencer. In August 2022, he sold his mansion in Los Angeles for a cool $16.7 Million. He hasn't changed his flashy lifestyle much either since leaving Los Angeles. When spotted out in Wyoming, he can be seen dressed head to toe in luxury designer brands. He's even known for having the only electric Hummer in all of Wyoming.

According to the Casper Star Tribune, Jeffree has been welcomed into the community after making several generous donations to the Casper community. "People were like, 'Don't bring that crap here.' Then he donated to a couple of charities, and they're like, 'Oh, that's cool,'" said local Casper radio personality DJ Nyke to the Tribune.

Why Did Jeffree Star Leave California?

Jeffree Star needed a change from LA. In an interview with Wyoming's K2 radio station, Jeffree said moving to Wyoming is the best decision he's ever made. "California's only getting more crazy, more busy, more hot. And I think the pandemic really made me open my eyes as to what I wanted in the future."

Jeffree has been incredibly transparent with his fan base throughout his big move. Finding a place where he felt safe enough to address and take care of his mental health issues helped push him to make the decision to permanently leave California. Taking to YouTube in a video entitled "Addressing My Mental Health…Selling My House and Getting Help", he explained the reasoning behind his decision to leave LA.

"It's time to address my mental health and be very transparent. I've had so many silent personal struggles, public feuds, and a lot of mental trauma. Caused by me, my past actions, and people from my past. I've had too much loss and have been slowly healing," he wrote within the caption of the video.

During the video, Jeffree explains that he has been silently suffering from depression for years. Even with his company Jeffree Star Cosmetics becoming incredibly successful and having its best year in 2019, he was left feeling miserable. He also was going through a breakup and grieving the loss of two of his beloved dogs. Through his brave admission, Jeffree joins the ranks of numerous celebrities who have taken time to reevaluate their life and focus on their mental well-being.

Will Jeffree Star Ever Move Back To California?

It seems Jeffree Star has no intention of ever moving back to California. In August 2022, the star published a YouTube video titled "I FINALLY sold my mansion...moving out of California FOREVER." While the expression is "never say never," it seems like Jeffree is dead set on leaving California in his past and embracing Wyoming as his new forever home.

Along with moving his make-up business to Wyoming, Jeffree has a new-found obsession - yak farming. During his interview with K2 radio, the make-up mogul explained that he's been interested in the prospect of raising yaks ever since coming across them while touring as a music artist in Geneva, Switzerland, years ago. He recalled seeing the fuzzy animals and asking his bus driver if they were cows. When he explained to Jeffree that they were yaks, not cows, he became infatuated with them.

After moving to Wyoming, he looked into the legality of raising yaks in America. "They were imported in 1902, and they've been here all along. It's a very small niche versus beef cattle, obviously. There's probably only about 30,000 yaks in America. But our plan is to expand, and breed more for meat and pets. Because there's just not enough in America," said Jeffree in the interview with K2 radio.

Jeffree has been critiqued by animal rights activists and fans for offing the yaks on his farm. Fans couldn't understand how the star could own a vegan, animal cruelty-free make-up brand and raise yaks for slaughter simultaneously. Speaking to Insider, he explained that butchering animals is simply part of the Wyoming way.

"I had no idea people were uneducated about farming, where meat came from, or even the culture of hunting and providing food for your family," said Jeffree in response to public outcries. "The thought of raising an animal in peace and happiness, from pasture to plate, is something you don't learn living in a big city like LA," he said to Insider.
