In 2019, Fischer and Kinsey created a weekly podcast called Office Ladies, which airs on the Earwolf Platform. Although their podcast is known for its comedy and occasional co-star appearances, Kinsey did bring up a topic on what made her and Fischer cringe while filming the office. Although it may be something that wasn't as big of a controversy back in the day, it's a topic of conversation that's increased over the years.

The Office season 3 episode “A Benihana Christmas” brought up racial issues when released due to the episode's plot and the characters' jokes. In the episode, a restaurant was nicknamed “Asian Hooters” and ended with one of the characters using a sharpie on one of the Asian waitresses he brings back to his office Christmas party so that he can tell them apart. Even though this episode took place in 2006, Fischer and Kinsey also explained why that episode is still cringeworthy.

Out of all jokes that the show had made during the episode, the one that crossed the line for both actresses was when one of the characters used a sharpie to distinguish Asian characters.

Kinsey reacted to the episode by saying, “I just don’t think this storyline would have been written today,” while Fischer replied, “I don’t think so either.”

One of the episode guest-stars, Kat Ahn, spoke up about the jokes recently, saying that after being excited to be a part of a popular NBC sitcom, she realized "she was just there to be a joke." The actress made the statement soon after a co-worker attempted to draw on her arm with a marker.

Ahn continued the discussion by saying that “The storyline with myself and the other Asian-American actress is that we were the ‘uglier’ version of the actresses at the Benihana. Also that all Asian people look alike; we’re one big monolith; and we’re just one big, walking stereotype without any personality or individuality, which is problematic.”

New episodes of Fischer and Kinsey's podcast Office Ladies air almost every Wednesday, with notable actors such as Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson sometimes stopping by. Peacock currently airs all nine seasons of The Office.
