On the big screen, there are few things that are more exciting than seeing heroes team up to save the day. Whether it’s the MCU, DC, or even Jedi in Star Wars, seeing heroes band together for heroic feats always makes for an interesting watch, and that’s why these movies make so much money.

However, just because we see heroes on the being screen doing their thing does not mean that things are always smooth behind the scenes. In fact, tension can boil over between performers. This normally happens on set, but there are some examples of performers getting snippy in the public eye.

Let’s take a look at the rift that developed between Brie Larson and Jeremy Renner and see what exactly took place between the two MCU stars.

Larson’s Harmless Comments Started It Off

To really dig deep and get a clearer picture of what went on between Brie Larson and Jeremy Renner, we need to take a step back and see where this all began. Turns out, the rift between the pair actually occurred during an interview, and frankly, things seemed innocent enough at first.

When speaking with NDTV in a joint interview, Larson talked about using her voice and her platform for good, especially now that she was part of the MCU.

She would say, “I am committed to self-improvement and I work at being the best person I can be and using this platform for as much good as I can. It doesn’t mean I don’t make mistakes, but I’m very comfortable with that and allowing myself to learn from those mistakes.”

This was a pretty harmless remark, and most people would agree that it is nice seeing famous faces use their platform for goods causes. Not only that, but this particular comment by Larson should not come as much of a surprise, as she is quite vocal about her beliefs and her desire to help.

For example, when speaking to InStyle about Captain Marvel and the platform the film gave her, Larson would say, “The movie was the biggest and best opportunity I could have ever asked for. It was, like, my superpower. This could be my form of activism: doing a film that can play all over the world and be in more places than I can be physically.”

Despite the innocent nature of her comment, Jeremy Renner was apparently feeling some type of way.

Renner’s Remark Doesn’t Help

Normally, someone would not take a shot to make a remark about someone talking about something positive, but during their joint interview, Jeremy Renner went ahead and fired off.

Renner would say, “I’m pretty accountable and responsible in my own life at any rate. Celebrity isn’t something that I use as any sort of platform to be more responsible or accountable, I suppose. It’s certainly an absolute blessing to see the joy on kids’ faces. I don’t think there is a feeling that comes close to that.”

People immediately began to speculate that perhaps there was a problem between the duo, as Renner could have just showed some support or even talked about something else instead. It’s interesting to hear his contrasting opinion, but his comments certainly came off as unwarranted.

Keep in mind that all of this was taking place while the duo were promoting the film Avengers: Endgame, meaning that all eyes were going to be on them and that people would hang on their every word. The film still became the highest-grossing movie of all time, but these comments still stuck out.

Where They Stand Now

Despite their limited time together, Renner and Larson certainly came off like oil and water during their interview. This was not the first time that Larson had gotten into a tiff with another Avengers co-star.

Larson and Chris Hemsworth had some words during a joint interview, and people were quite shocked by this. It was an uncomfortable moment that immediately made headlines, and while it could have been some joking, it certainly came off as anything or than funny for the group.

Larson and Renner’s situation made for multiple public incidents with Larson and a co-star, and at this time, there is no update on their fracture. They may never have to work together again, which could be the best thing for the MCU.
