They say not to mix business with pleasure, but Jessica Biel has been having a great time on the set for her new TV series Candy alongside husband Justin Timberlake. The couple, who have been married for 10 years, have been enjoying their time working together on the show – and have been sharing some cute photos in costume with their fans on Instagram. Jessica plays suspected murderer Candy Montgomery – a mild-mannered housewife accused of murdering her neighbor with an ax back in 1980. Justin managed to land himself a cameo on the show as a sheriff investigating the case – and he and his wife have been enjoying playing dress-up and sporting some very 80s haircuts.

It's fair to say that the pair were super excited to be working together. While on set filming in Georgia, the couple shared a cute image of themselves in full costume as a teaser to fans.

"Watch out, Candy," Biel captioned a set of pics she shared on Instagram. "There’s a new sheriff in town."

Justin also posted a snap of himself with unflattering facial hair and paunch; "Belly's fake, hair's fake, mustache is real," he wrote. "Meet Diffy."

7 Justin Timberlake Begged For The Part In 'Candy'

If you're thinking Jessica bagged the part for her hubby as a favor, you'd be wrong. Jessica didn't think it was a good idea initially, but Justin was insistent that he wanted to play the role of Deputy Steve Deffibaugh.

“That was all Justin,” Jessica revealed in an interview with TV Guide, explaining how he pursued the role.

“He so desperately wanted to play this part, and I genuinely thought he was joking,” she continued.

Mr Timberlake was determined, however, because he had "fallen in love with" the character. "He’s like, 'I don’t care. I want to play this part,'" Biel said.

6 Justin Timberlake Didn't Take Much Payment For His Work

With a tight production budget, Jessica explained to Justin that he wouldn't be able to receive much pay. This didn't put him off at all, however!

As Biel explained, "I was like, 'We have no money to pay you, you’re gonna be making scale.'"

5 Jessica Biel Was Impressed With Her Husband's Work

Justin's performance as the gruff sheriff impressed his wife so much that she couldn't believe it was him!

"There's definitely those moments where you pop out of character," Biel says. "You look across the table, like, 'Is that my husband with that belly and that hair and that mustache? Oh my God, it is.'"

4 Justin And Jessica Had Fun Filming Together

Their first joint screen appearance certainly proved to be a fun one for the Timberlakes, who had a lot of laughs during their scenes together. Jessica said she was surprised by the experience, and found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Justin agreed, saying the acting job was a “really cool, fun surprise for even me.”

3 Viewers Were Loving The Couple's Joint Appearance

Watchers of the new series were certainly enjoying Justin's cameo appearance, and noticed a definite on-screen chemistry between the couple. Justin's performance was also singled out for praise.

2 Some Fans Didn't Like The Dynamic, However

There were those who seemed less than impressed with their joint onscreen appearance, however. Some Twitter users felt uncomfortable with Justin appearing on what was Jessica's big show and felt he detracted from it, while others considered Justin landing the role as an example of Hollywood nepotism - only having secured the role because of his wife's influence.

'candy, great show, love it,' said one Twitter user, 'but just because jessica biel is in it does not mean justin timberlake needs to be in it playing a yeehaw sheriff.'

Some viewers just found his appearance irritating and unnecessary.

'Idk why it's annoying the F out of me that Justin Timberlake is ALSO in Candy with Jessica Biel,' said one viewer online.

Others pointed out that Jessica's character Candy sports an oddly familiar hairstyle. Candy's cropped curls bear a funny resemblance to Justin's iconic curly mop from back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Things seem to come full circle!
