The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind star slammed Will Smith in an interview after he assaulted Chris Rock during the Academy Awards on Sunday evening.
Jim Carrey Said He Was 'Sickened' By Will Smith's Behavior
The comedian, 60, criticized the Hollywood elite for giving Smith a standing ovation following his Best Actor win. It came just minutes before Smith smacked Rock in the face following a joke he made about his wife's alopecia.
Jim told CBS' Gayle King: "I was sickened by the standing ovation. Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren't the cool club anymore. I'd have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, it's going to be ubiquitous."
"That insult is gonna last a very long time. If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter [that's fine]. But you do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face because they said words."

It didn't take long for internet sleuths to find footage of Jim Carrey where he made questionable choices at an awards ceremony. At the 1997 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Carrey was announced as the winner for "Best Comedic Performance." As he reached the podium, he forcibly kissed a then 19-year-old Alicia Silverstone, who presented him with the award. Social media users were quick to point out that it was "non-consensual" and "inappropriate."
Carrey also tried to kiss Smith, after he was announced as the winner for "Best Kiss." Smith won the award for his kissing scene with actress Vivica A. Fox for Independence Day.
Social Media Users Turned On Jim Carrey
The two resurfaced clips have now gone viral, with Carrey being branded a "hypocrite" for condemning Smith's actions despite his own chequered hist at an awards ceremony.
"Interesting … How easy people judge others ! Before throwing rocks at someone let’s make sure we are perfect... from every angle," one comment read.
"In that case, Jim Carrey should be jailed for sexually assaulting a teenaged Alicia Silverstone on stage at the 1997 MTV Awards, and then also trying to sexually assault Will Smith at the same awards show," a second added.
"Jim Carrey tried to French kiss Will Smith at the MTV movie awards and he kissed Alicia Silverstone without her content at the same awards show. So he assaulted two people in one night and no body said a word. He should be minding his own business," a third tweet read.
