When Did Joe Keery Start Dating His Longtime Girlfriend Maika Monroe?
Over the last several years, it has become increasingly clear that some celebrities seem to let the world in on every development in their dating lives. In some cases that means sharing photos on social media and in others, they opt to tip off the tabloids about where to catch them on a date.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are some stars who do everything they can to keep their relationships private. Looking back at the history of Joe Keery and Maika Monroe's relationship, it seems like they were a mix of both those groups.
On October 26th, 2017. Keery and Monroe appeared in public as a couple for the first time. On that fateful night, Monroe accompanied Keery when he attended the red carpet premiere of Stranger Things' second season.
In the years that followed, Monroe and Keery appeared at several red carpet events together and the public got to see photos of them spending time together occasionally.
Long after their relationship began, Keery spoke about spending a lot of time with Monroe when he was interviewed by GQ in 2021.
“Over quarantine, it was like we spent so much time together, which was rare. I mean, that's one of the disadvantages of dating someone else in the industry. There are advantages as well: somebody who kind of understands what's going on with you in a pretty deep way. But yeah, I think she's like me. She doesn't take it all too seriously.”
Given the fact that Keery and Monroe have appeared in public and acknowledged their relationship, it may seem strange to say they ever kept their union a secret. However, they appear to have been dating for a while before they went public.
According to whosdatedwho.com, Keery and Monroe actually began dating in May 2017. Considering they went public with their relationship in October, that means they didn't reveal they were a couple for nearly half a year.
While it is interesting that Keery and Monroe kept their relationship close to the chest for months, there is no indication that is the case for a scandalous reason. Instead, it makes sense that assume the most innocuous explanation for that delay. In all likelihood, Keery and Monroe didn't reveal their relationship until they were confident they were serious about each other.
Are Joe Keery And Maika Monroe Still Dating?
During Joe Keery and Maika Monroe's years-long relationship, many people came to admire the couple. After all, on top of both actors being very good-looking, they also seemed downright adorable together.
When a video of Keery and Monroe reenacting the moment from Dirty Dancing where Johnny lifts Baby, many observers were deeply charmed. As a result, when reports began to surface that the pair had broken up, many people observers were sad.
Of course, that begs an obvious question, have Keery and Monroe really broken up?
The evidence that Kerry and Monroe are no longer together is compelling but circumstantial. First off, it has been months since Monroe and Keery have been spotted together. On top of that, gossip writer Deuxmoi claimed they split and there have been claims that Maika kissed Karl Glusman.
Of course, all of those reports could be evidence of gossip that leads to nothing. On the other hand, there is no doubt that Keery released a song recently that a lot of people think is revealing.
In late 2022, Keery released an album titled "Decide" under his pseudonym, Djo. One of the songs on the album is titled "Go For It" and some fans think that it contains lyrics about Keery and Monroe breaking up.
“One week and four years, you know my ways, I know your fears / But then there’s a misunderstanding, but what will it take to hear me out?”
Again, those lyrics could be revealing but they are far from proof of a breakup. After all, they could just be about a fight and lots of lyricists write about things they aren't actually going through at the moment.
At the end of the day, the only way fans will know for sure that Keery and Monroe's relationship is over is if one of them confirms the split or they are with someone new.
