John Lennon was famous for a lot of things, but there were some things that he never got a chance to do. As fans know, he passed away at barely 40 years old, with almost an entire life ahead of him. For one thing, he missed an opportunity to star in a classic film. Of course, there were plenty of other career highlights on the itinerary.

But when it comes to memorable on-screen moments, some have gone down in history more for the stars that acted in them versus the script or set itself.

John Lennon Was Slated To Star In 'WarGames'

The 1983 film 'WarGames' was a techno-thriller that was innovative for its time. Matthew Broderick had a starring role, and he was already rising the ranks in Hollywood. But another noteworthy role in the movie was that of Professor Falken, a supporting role that went to John Wood.

Fans have learned a lot about John Lennon over the years, including the fact that he didn't like the classic Beatles song that made them famous. But IMDb trivia confirms that he missed a chance at a role in 'WarGames,' back in the '80s.

IMDb states that the original script was written for Lennon in the role of Professor Falken. No doubt, having Lennon portray the Professor would have changed the movie in a big way. Just as other lead actors have defined a film with their roles, so did Matthew Broderick.

But it was the supporting cast that really shaped the movie, and Wood was a presence (and a central theme). John Lennon was quite the presence as well though, and fans suspect he probably would have been excellent in the role.

The Film Came Out After John Lennon Passed Away

Though a stage presence doesn't always translate into a successful film career, the fact that the production team wrote the role for Lennon speaks volumes. Fans -- and his fellow bandmates -- still commemorate Lennon for his brilliance today, and there's a reason for it.

Music wasn't the only thing Lennon was good at, which is why he was in line for a big movie breakout.

He did miss 'WarGames' by a couple of years, passing away in 1980. Which meant that the team had to find another professional to portray the Professor. But fans still haven't forgotten Lennon's talent and presence, and the fact that the classic movie could have been very different.

Of course, plenty of creative projects could have been very different had Lennon lived a longer life, and who knows what else he could have accomplished.
