Over the last few decades, “reality” TV has become of the one most successful genres of entertainment around. As a result, it often feels like there is a new “reality” show debuts each week which only serves to make most of those series’ cultural impact extremely fleeting. For example, at one time shows like Singled Out and Taxicab Confessions were considered to be among the best “reality” shows from the 90s. Despite that, a lot of those two show’s former viewers have long since forgotten about them.

Unlike most “reality” shows that have gone off the air, there are still loads of people who continue to adore Duck Dynasty. In fact, there are still a lot of Duck Dynasty fans that want to see the show to start filming new episodes. Given the fact that Ducky Dynasty has been so controversial, that is all the more amazing.

Given the fact that it has been years since Duck Dynasty’s final episode aired, some fans may be wondering if the family at the heart of the show are still leading fascinating lives. After all, when some stars are out of the spotlight for years, they begin living like regular people. Based on a traumatic news story that came out about John Luke Robertson in 2020, however, it is clear that his life remains eventful.

A Fortunate Life

In a lot of ways, John Luke Robertson has led an extremely charmed life. After all, not only was he born into a family whose business has made a fortune for the clan, John also became a TV star because of the people he is related to. In fact, from 2012 until 2017, John Luke Robertson appeared in 49 different episodes of Duck Dynasty. On top of that, Willie and Korie Robertson were aware that Duck Dynasty fans were looking for other shows to watch since that series is off the air so they created At Home With the Robertsons. Since that talk show premiered in 2021, John has appeared in 4 episodes of that series as well.

A Scary Situation

In life, there are certain things that everyone should be able to enjoy. For example, everyone should feel safe and secure when they are in the comfort of their own home. Unfortunately, there are many people whose homes are not their sanctuaries. For the most part, John Luke Robertson hasn’t had to worry when he was at home with his family. At least, that was the case until someone turned John’s home into a target.

In April of 2020, John Luke Robertson, Mary Kate Robertson, and their then six-month-old son John Shepherd Robertson were all issued a protective order. While it may seem ridiculous that a six-month-old would need something like that, it makes perfect sense once you learn the reason for the order.

In the midst of the COVID-19 lockdowns, several members of John Luke Robertson’s family were at home just like everyone else. At that point, John’s home suddenly became a very unsafe place to be when a man named Daniel King Jr. began firing a weapon at the building. As horrific as it would be to have your home turned into a target like that, things easily could have been a lot worse for John and his family.

Most importantly, even though John Luke Robertson’s home was occupied when it was shot at, nobody was injured. On top of that, in a matter of days, the person responsible for the incident, Daniel King Jr., had been charged with aggravated assault and the aforementioned protective orders were in place.

Even though it is wonderful that John Luke Robertson and his family didn’t get hurt when his home was fired upon, that doesn’t mean that the incident wasn’t extremely traumatic for them. After all, it would be horrible to be spending a typical day at home and then suddenly know that you came far too close to suffering a potentially lethal injury. Worse than that, John and his wife Mary Kate Robertson must have reflected on what could have happened to their six-month-old if he was somewhere different in their home. That is truly scary to think about.
