Fans of the Johnny Depp are supporting luxury brand Dior after they continue to use him in their fragrance campaign.

Last month, Depp lost his "wife beater" libel trial against The Sun newspaper.

The Edward Scissorhands star is the face of Sauvage aftershave and his adverts are still appearing in newspapers and on TV.

However many fans are showing their loyalty to the actor by buying the Sauvage perfume in which he fronts. Beauty website Cosmetify claims internet searches for the cologne have increased by 23 per cent.

Depp, 57, sued The Sun after it claimed he assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard, which he denies. A high court judge ruled what was in the article to be "substantially true".

Domestic abuse lawyer Rachel Horman-Brown told the MailOnline it was "disappointing and irresponsible" that Dior is still working with Depp.

She told MailOnline: "I think it's extremely disappointing and irresponsible of Dior – especially when we are looking at a situation that isn't just an allegation anymore."

"The courts made a finding about him and what happened in their relationship. We heard reams of detailed evidence and testimony from the people involved," Horman-Brown continued.

"The decision was made by the courts that Depp was abusive towards his partner and could be called a 'wife beater' and yet, notwithstanding that, Dior continues to use his advert; it is almost condoning abuse and violence against women."

However Depp fans are standing by him - using the hashtag "#JusticeForJohnny."

"I won't buy it again if they drop Johnny. Johnny is a victim," one fan wrote.

"Since his abuser is still employed by L'Oreal, why should the victim lose his job?" another added.

"Why not! He was wronged by the judge who took the word of a scheming aggressor and liar of a woman and then refusing him an appeal," a third chimed in.

"Dior is doing the right thing sticking by him. He was never found guilty of a crime, just hearsay by a bitter women. She lied a lot even though they were as bad as each other. Watch this space he made far to many good films and is still one of the best male actors she is just second rate," a comment read.
