Johnny Depp is set to return to his iconic role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, at least according to one outrageous report. Unfortunately, fans might have to wait a bit longer to see Captain Jack Sparrow sail the high seas on the Black Pearl, as a representative for the actor has put a kibosh on the rumor — saying it’s “made up.”

Johnny Depp Isn't Headed Back To The 'Pirates' Franchise

On June 27, a report claimed that Depp and Disney were nearing a bank-breaking $301 million deal. According to the report, the deal would have the actor reprise his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise following his big win against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, in the $50 million defamation suit he brought against her.

"Disney is very interested in patching up their relationship with Johnny Depp," a source told PopTopic. "They are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character."

The rumor caused quite a stir. However, before too much of a frenzy could be whipped up, a representative for the actor told NBC News, "This is made up," leaving Deppsters down in the dumps.

Rumors of Depp’s possible return to the Pirates franchise began even before his court war against Heard concluded earlier this month, despite the actor claiming “nothing on this earth” could get him to reprise his role.

The Actor Says He Will Never Return

At one point during the trial, Depp admitted that Disney had dropped him from the 6th installment of Pirates of the Caribbean just days after Heard published her infamous 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post. In the piece, she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Heard's attorney later asked Depp if he would return to Pirates should Disney offer a generous deal: "The fact is, Mr. Depp — if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas — nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?"

Depp responded, "That is true, Mr. Rottenborn."
