Released in 2014, The Wolf of Wall Street was a massive hit, bringing in $406 million at the box office. The Martin Scorsese film also received positive reviews, earning an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jonah Hill took on a career changing role, taking on the part of Donnie. According to Hill, although he was blessed to be in the film, he wasn't a fan of his character.

"They say you're not supposed to judge the character at all and I tried my hardest, but I couldn't really find that much I really liked about Donnie.I just didn't like the way that Donnie treated people, that was the thing I had the hardest time with."

Jonah would further reveal that driving home after a shoot wasn't easy, especially thinking about the things he went through with his character.

"It wasn’t the drugs, but the things Donnie had to do to people… Even though you’re acting, the way this person treats people is the hardest thing you have to do," Hill stated.

The emotional rollercoaster would continue for Hill, but for a different reason, one that landed the actor in the hospital.

Jonah Hill Ended Up In The Hospital Because Of Snorting White Vitamin Powder

Things got a little more complicated for Hill, who battled bronchitis for three weeks because of his 'snorting' scenes.

"I did so much fake cocaine in 'Wolf of Wall Street,' I got bronchitis for three weeks and had to be hospitalized," Hill said.

According to the actor, the constant use of vitamin powder up his nose got very dangerous.

"It's vitamin powder, but it doesn't matter, because if you ingest ... that much matter into your lungs, you will get very sick. We were just literally doing fake coke for like seven months every day. I never had more vitamin D in my entire life. I could have lifted a car over my head."

Thankfully, Hill was able to continue on with the film, and despite the salary, his role put him on the map as a serious actor, and one that can do so much more than comedic work.

Lots of actors have that dreaded scene in a film and for Jonah Hill, it involved firing a character, throwing a cigarette at him, and slapping the actor in the face.

Hill discussed the forgettable moment, "There’s a scene where I fire this kid and eat his goldfish. I throw a cigarette at him and I smack him in the face and berate him in front of 200 people and fire him. Even though it’s acting, I saw this actor’s eyes and he looked really upset. He looked horrible," Hill tells Dmarge.

In order to feel better about the situation, Hill brought the actor out for a lunch.

“I took him to lunch that day and I said, ‘I’m sorry. You know this has nothing to do with how I am.’ And we connected and had a nice lunch…”

Not an easy situation for Hill, but one he was able to handle with complete class.
