When it comes to predicting the future, no one really knows what tomorrow will bring. Plenty of people have attempted to predict the spread of Covid-19 in America and while most fail, others have succeeded. Supermodel Karlie Kloss posted footage of an old episode from Project Runway that has us questioning everything.

When Fashion Meets Reality

Most fashion staples never make it off the runway and into the hands of consumers. Some designs aren't even wearable for everyday outings. However, on season 17 of Project Runaway, one contestant’s fashion design actually becomes a reality and not in a good way.

Karlie Kloss retweeted Rosa Rebellion’s Co-founder Virginia Cumberbatch’s video of episode 3 of Project Runaway where the contestants competed in the “Head To Toe” Challenge. The contestants were to craft a printed design that would find its way onto the runway.

Showing only a brief clip, the judges were going through the designs of other artists before they stopped to admire contestant Kovid Kapoor’s red printed design. The platted pants and open suit were paired with the matching printed mask, which oddly echoes the fashion looks people are sporting today post-COVID-19.

Karlie Kloss, who acted as a guest judge on season 17 and appeared in the short clip as well, seemed particularly interested in Kapoor’s design. Is the contestant’s design more foreshadowing than fashion-forward? Honestly, if they made COVID-19 designs like Kovid Kapoors, we’re pretty sure they’d sell off the rack within an hour.

Virginia Cumberbatch’s Video Set The Tone For America

Nonetheless, Virginia Cumberbatch’s video drew parallels between the episode and the current state of America. The BLM activist gave a rundown list of all the direct parallels, including Kovid Kapoor’s name and the obviously, the printed mask worn by the model on the show.

In a separate tweet, Cumberbatch mentions Karlie Kloss again as she wrote the following, “AND@KarlieKloss says “would you mind putting your mask back on?!” This episode predicted 2020 fashion and its most powerful statements / phrases.”

It seems that Indian designer Kovid Kapoor wasn’t the only one predicting the future here. It’s no wonder that Karlie Kloss’s statement from season 17 of Project Runway hasn’t been made into a meme yet. Still, it’s quite strange that suddenly Kapoor’s design has in some way become a reality.
