Shocking news from the actress Katherine Heigl as she revealed that she underwent drastic surgery in order to treat a herniated disc.
"Well...I am now bionic!! Two titanium disk now inhabit my neck and I can probably stand on my head for like hours...I’m not gonna try it just yet but give me a few months and I’ll blow your mind!!" said the 42 year old star about her recent procedure.
Taking to her Instagram account, the actress shared a few photographs regarding the entire ordeal; the first shows the 'The Ugly Truth' actress in a neck brace, cradling a bag of Frito's in her hand, the second shows a quirky Heigl smiling big in her hospital bed, with medical tape around her neck, and the third shows x-rays of her neck as well as the titanium discs that were inserted.
Fans and followers were quick to send their well wishes as well as so many comments about Grey's Anatomy. "Did Dr. Meredith Grey do your surgery?" said one follower, "You should know what your doing you’re a surgeon 😂" chimed in another. Another die hard fan also added, "Did yo go to Seattle Press or Grey Sloan Memorial for your surgery?".
Though Heigl's photos and comments were light-hearted, she also allowed herself to get serious when thanking her team of dedicated physicians saying, "I am so deeply deeply grateful to the incredible Dr’s and care team that saved me from the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced and blessed me with a new pain free lease on life".
It is clear that the actress had been suffering for a while, with this condition well known for being extremely painful. Just five days ago, the actress posted a video of her husband, singer Josh Kelley, at her bedside at the hospital saying, "This is definitely the guy you want by your side during a health crisis". She had been taking some images for her slipped disc.
In closing the star said, "Oh and HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY! Clearly I’ve been blessed with the luck of the Irish today," poking fun at the fact that she had to undergo surgery on the traditionally lucky day.
