Every performer in Hollywood wants nothing more than to make it big and cash in for years on end. Few people actually pull this off, and the ones that do fight hard to make sure that no one else takes their spot at the top. Sometimes, however, stars wind up having major blunders that cost them everything.

Katherine Heigl is an exceptionally talented performer who has had a ton of success on shows like Grey's Anatomy and Firefly Lane. Impressively, she also cracked the code on the big screen, as well. Heigl's career took a downward turn in the 2010s, but on her way to the top, she starred in a film that went down in history.

Let's take a look at Heigl's historic film.

Katherine Heigl Was A Star

During the 2000s, Katherine Heigl became a gigantic star in the entertainment industry, and fans genuinely loved what she was bringing to the table during that era. She was able to show that she could thrive in comedies or in dramas, and the actress had a hot streak that few were able to match.

The actress had spent years in the business doing work, but landing on Grey's Anatomy changed the game forever. Heigl was one of the leads on the show, and she managed to stand out from the pack while earning rave reviews for her work on the show.

As if this wasn't impressive enough, the actress was also making waves on the big screen. She starred in movies like Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, and The Ugly Truth, all of which were successful.

Things were looking up for the star, but she wound up torpedoing her career in record time.

Her Career Took A Hit After 'Grey's Anatomy'

After becoming a massive star while on Grey's Anatomy and while starring in hit films, it certainly seemed like Katherine Heigl was going to be at the top for years to come. However, the actress wound up making a few mistakes in her career and paid the price for a long time.

First, there was the incident with Knocked Up, where she went out of her way to say some unsavory things about the film itself. This not only drew the ire of her co-stars, but it also burned a massive bridge with Judd Apatow.

As if this wasn't bad enough, Heigl wound up withdrawing her name from contention at the Emmy's while on Grey's because she "did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination."

Slamming the writers of your massive show? Probably not a great idea. Once Heigl was off of Grey's, things dried up quickly for the actress. She's gaining some steam now thanks to Firefly Lane, but she had a rough patch for a while there.

Heigl has had an interesting career, and back in 2006 before her massive rise and fall, she starred in a film that went down in history for all the wrong reasons.

'Zyzzyx Road' Made $30

Released back in 2006, Zyzzyx Road, which has to be a contender for the worst movie title of all time, made its way into theaters looking to find an audience. Instead, what it found was a place in history as what could be the lowest-grossing movie of all time. The movie only managed to make $30 while in theatres. No, not $30 million; it only made $30.

John Penney, who wrote, directed, and produced the movie, talked about coming across an article highlighting the film's utter failure.

According to Penney, "I was mortified. I went, ‘Oh, my God, this is horrendous.’ I’m reading it and saying, ‘Oh, no. Oh, no! This isn’t how it’s supposed to go.’ I’ve been through a lot of crap in my career. I’ve seen so many things. But this movie is like my baby, and it’s being dragged around in the street with people poking sticks in it. It was brutal. It was ugly. I was reeling.”

Zyzzyx Road was a colossal failure on all fronts, and even with its itty bitty budget, it still went down in flames. Keep in mind that this movie featured both Tom Sizemore and Katherine Heigl, two performers who had found success prior to the movie's release. Nevertheless, this film bombed hard, and as you can imagine, it has been crushed by critics and fans alike.
