When the world learned that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were getting divorced, many people suspected that there might be some major fireworks that followed. After all, many celebrities have made dark claims about their exes while getting divorced.

Despite the potential for a lot of drama, it turned out that Cruise and Holmes' divorce was settled surprisingly quickly and smoothly.

In the years since the former couple's divorce was finalized, it became increasingly clear that there is a reason why Cruise and Holmes' divorce went so smoothly. From all indications, Holmes wanted the divorce over quickly.

According to reports, Cruise agreed to pay Holmes $400,000 annually in alimony. While that is a huge amount of money for most people, Cruise is extremely wealthy. As a result, it seems extremely likely that Holmes would have prevailed if she fought for more.

In the vast majority of divorces, the most headline-grabbing details are the financial deals that are struck. However, if the reports are true, there is another detail about Cruise and Holmes' divorce that is a lot more mind-blowing.

According to a Radar Online report, Holmes agreed to a series of rules designed to make sure she didn't embarrass Cruise following their divorce. Amazingly enough, one of those rules was that Holmes couldn't date anyone publicly for five years after her marriage to Cruise ended.

"Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce."

"She's allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she's not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri."

According to that same report, Holmes agreed to that astonishing rule because she really wanted out of the marriage.

"Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms - and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself."

Finally, the report claims that Holmes would lose that $5 million, which is unrelated to the annual alimony payment referenced earlier, if she broke any of those rules.

Katie Holmes' Relationship With Jamie Foxx Explained?

In the years since Radar Online posted their report about Katie Holmes not being able to date in public, she never confirmed or denied that was the case. Similarly, Tom Cruise also never responded to the report.

Considering that nobody involved confirmed Radar Online's report, there is no way to say that it was accurate. On top of that, some people may question the report since it seems somewhat outlandish that Holmes would agree to a rule like that.

However, if you look back on Holmes' life in the years that followed her divorce from Cruise, the report suddenly seems very credible.

After Holmes became single in 2012, there were a lot of reports about her personal life in the years that followed. According to a lot of rumors that went around for years, Holmes went on to date Jamie Foxx for years during the 2010s.

After those rumors were going around for a while, paparazzi photographed Holmes and Foxx walking on a beach together hand in hand. Despite those photos, Holmes and Foxx's reps still denied they were in a relationship.

Then, after several years of rumors, Holmes and Foxx seemingly confirmed they were a couple when their reps denied reports that they had broken up. When W Magazine wrote about Holmes and Foxx seemingly confirming they were a couple, their report included a fascinating sentence.

"Incredibly, it’s been five years since they were first linked together — and have managed to keep their alleged relationship quiet since."

At the time that Holmes and Foxx were so secretive about their relationship, a lot of observers didn't understand why they acted that way. However, if Holmes legally wasn't able to date publicly for five years following her divorce, their behavior makes perfect sense.

Of course, all of that is conjecture but if the report about Holmes and Cruise's divorce settlement wasn't accurate, it is an amazing coincidence.
