Katy Perry is always active on social media. In fact, she’s been known to post multiple times a day, and is considered to be among the most followed celebrities on all forms of social media, across the board. She has 109.5 million Instagram followers, alone.

In spite of this close relationship she has with her social media account and her followers, she has just ranted on Twitter, to say that “social media is trash.”

It’s unclear why she’s so upset, or what triggered this reaction from Perry, but she’s definitely fed up, and is being vocal about it. Ironically, she’s ranting about the very platform that she’s using to convey this message of anger.

Fans hear her, and most agree that social media is riddled with issues, but they want her to stop venting and start using her voice to force change, instead.

Katy Perry Hates Social Media

By all accounts, it would seem that Katy Perry has embraced social media in a very big way. She’s constantly posting and sharing details of her personal and professional life online, and she is receiving increased exposure with each post and message that goes up.

Her loyal fan base hangs on every word she sends out to the world, and there’s absolutely no denying the fact that social media increases brand awareness and that she sees a direct financial benefit to having this level of social media exposure.

So why does she hate it so much? Fans aren’t sure, but just to be certain the world understands her distaste for social media, Katy Perry followed up her “social media is trash” message with yet another angry message.

She followed up to say; “the decline of human civilization #isaidwhatisaid.”

Most would agree that social media has become a platform that has hosted increased hurtful messages from trolls and haters lately. Fans are assuming Katy Perry is referencing the fact that social media kindness is overshadowed by the negative commentary.

Fans Respond

Her fans responded to her rant by saying; “Tell us how you are going to make a difference. Yep it’s trash use your voice and platform to get the message out and stating the obvious. What example are you going to set? We don’t need statements we need actions from those who can influence.”
