Kelly Clarkson is hoping cancel culture stays out of her way after she made a major mess-up, leading fans into a hateful frenzy. The talented musician and talk show host relied a tad too much on her staff, who clearly let her down. During the last episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, she was speaking about the hit K-pop group BTS, but flashed a photo of Korean boy-band Blitzers, instead.

There are many similarities between the bands. They're both Korean boy bands, and they both have 7 members in their group. They also both represent themselves with bright, colorful advertising, and have names that start with the letter "b," however, they're both unique bands and they have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

Fans aren't impressed with Clarkson at all.

Kelly Clarkson's Fumble

It's assumed that every talk show employs fact-checkers, and presumably, they would have caught this huge error, but it's now too late for finger-pointing, as fans are upset with Kelly Clarkson already, and there's no turning back.

The Kelly Clarkson Show just launched into season three, and the very first episode has kicked things off on the wrong foot. During Clarkson's interview with Chris Martin, of Coldplay, he began to dive into details about his recent collaboration with BTS, and as he was discussing the track, titled My Universe, Clarkson's team mistakenly flashed a photo of the Blitzers, thinking it was that of BTS.

Fans clearly had no issue identifying that this was the wrong image and that it represented an entirely different, unrelated band, which begs the question; "Who's fact-checking over there?"

Clarkson Under Fire

The show was quick to apologize to fans, but that didn't prevent the backlash from gaining traction online. Many fans, and BTS Army fans, in particular, were completely put off by this error and were quick to relay their rage online. Within seconds, comments included; "wow that's incredibly ignorant," as well as; "cultural ignorance at its finest, way to go, Clarkson!" and; "that's the underlying racism showing."

Others wrote; "they basically just said Asian people all look alike," and "Cancel Clarkson" and "let's talk about Kelly Clarkson and show a photo of Carrie Underwood please."

Angry fans said; "all white girls look the same too," and "that's racially tone deaf in a really big way," as well as; "it's 2021, mistakes like this aren't really mistakes, they're pure negligence."
