Kelly Clarkson has definitely been busy since rising to fame on 'American Idol.' But with her success came challenges, including her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock. The two were married in 2013, but their relationship came to an end in 2020.

Though it's always sad when a marriage ends, fans were especially saddened that one of their favorite stars was having tough times. Luckily, it seems as if Kelly had the support of her former mother-in-law through it all.

Who Is Kelly Clarkson's Mother-In-Law?

Some fans might be surprised to learn that Kelly Clarkson's mother-in-law was none other than country legend Reba McEntire. Of course, Reba is Brandon's stepmother, and former stepmother at that; Reba has been divorced from Blackstock's father since 2015.

Kelly formerly spoke up about how amazing it was to have Reba as part of her family. Especially since the star has looked up to McEntire for ages, it was a thrilling way to cap off her career.

Despite the divorce of her in-laws, Kelly remained close to Reba, sources state. But then, Kelly divorced Brandon, so what happened to her mother-in-law then?

How Does Reba McEntire Feel About Kelly Clarkson?

The drama after Kelly Clarkson's divorce filing involved her ex asking for a boatload of money. But in the early days, Reba declined to comment or 'take sides' in the divorce discussion.

Instead, she apparently chatted with Kelly outside of the spotlight, fans suggest. Kelly formerly said the two had been friends for years, and folks close to Reba say that she realized Kelly was struggling with the dissolution of her marriage.

Then again, fans can make their own assumptions about how Kelly and Reba might get along these days. The singers have never had an issue with one another and being that they're both divorced from Blackstock gentlemen, it makes sense if they continue to connect as professionals and friends, rather than family members.

Of course, the biggest indicator of Reba and Kelly's adorable relationship is that McEntire has come on her former daughter-in-law's show before. The two even looked back at (and laughed about) family photos.

While discussing Reba's family, all of whom sing, Kelly said "I loved your dad," and Reba noted, "he loved you, too." Clearly, being part of Brandon's family meant being part of Reba's family, and Kelly clearly won't lose that.

Beyond her relationship with her ex-mother-in-law, Kelly Clarkson has a whole lot more going for her. While divorce is never easy, replacing Ellen DeGeneres' show in the same time slot must come with some sense of satisfaction.

And who knows where Kelly Clarkson will go next?
