After the sudden passing of both Rapper DMX and the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, many celebrities shared their condolences for both men on social media. However, not all well-wishes were taken as such, Scandal actress Kerry Washington found herself in the middle of a heated controversy.

In a since-deleted tweet, Washington wrote about both men “chatting” in heaven together.

Some were quick to reply that the two men shouldn’t be compared. Prince Philip has been called out for his controversial comments about Megan Markle in recent news, where he called her “destructive” in regards to the Royal Family.

Aside from that, Prince Philip has been called racist, sexist, and greatly offensive for other remarks made throughout his life as well, many of them well-documented.

While she almost certainly didn’t have any ill intentions by the post, many criticized her tweet for being tone-deaf. Social media users shared their reactions to her post on Twitter:

On Friday, DMX aka Earl Simmons passed away at the age of 50 after suffering a heart attack a week prior. He was taken off life support due to his condition.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” his family said in a statement.
