Kevin Hart and Kelly Clarkson just opened up about what they perceive to be the keys to success. And Hart's advice may be a bit surprising.

In the newest episode of Hart to Heart, Hart's talk show on Peacock, he spoke with singer Kelly Clarkson about the key to success.

Clarkson spoke about how she thinks "you have to be surrounded by people who will call you out on your sh**."

Hart seemed to agree with her, saying:

"Well, my friends don't like me. If you wanna know the key to success, get friends that don't really like you, That every once in a while, you catch just looking at you...like...'What you thinking right now?'"

Both Hart and Clarkson have been around in the entertainment industry for nearly two decades. Clarkson got her start as the first winner of American Idol in 2002. She went on to become one of the most commercially successful winners of the show and has maintained her position in the music world. She now hosts her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which has gone on for two seasons.

Hart has also maintained success in his stand-up and acting career since 2001. He started off doing stand-up comedy ,and got his first real break on the TV show Undeclared.  Fatherhood and Jumanji: The Next Level are among two of his most recent blockbuster movies.

Hart also gave further advice on maintaining success in his latest audiobook, Overcoming Today’s BS For Tomorrow’s Success. The self-growth book addresses issues that a life coach might address, touching on the tools Hart has used in life when making decisions that helped him achieve success.

Hart himself calls the audiobook "refreshing." It's not the first time Hart has tried his hand at something like this, though. Hart also wrote a memoir called I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons, which landed him on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

In the book, he also talks about other keys to success that have worked for him. For example, he mentions the ability to shrug things off, or "to just accept them...and get on with my life." Other things Hart mentioned in his memoir as major helps to his success are the confidence to try new things, following his instinct and ability gain insight from his issues.
