By now, everyone who knows the Kardashian name also knows about the Tristan Thompson cheating scandals (yes, multiple), even if they haven't watched The Kardashians. So fans were shook when news recently broke that Khloé was expecting her second child via surrogate with none other than her ex and baby daddy Tristan.
Actually, shook might not be the right word; fans are upset on Khloé's behalf, in part because of the timing of the baby news — and the fact that Tristan's proven dalliances happened amid the former couple's plans to grow their family together.
Khloé Kardashian Surrogacy Rumors Have Circulated For Months
Though the news of a Kardashian-Thompson surrogate pregnancy wasn't entirely shocking to fans, most thought the rumors were purely that. In fact, when rumors first began to spread, Redditors joked about the matter; one deadpanned, "Is that what they’re calling it now when he gets another woman pregnant?"
Clearly, there are few supporters left on Tristan Thompson's side these days, and no one expected Khloé to be one of them. In fact, People reported that the exes hadn't spoken since December 2021, apart from conversations about co-parenting matters. Therefore, no word yet on how they plan to raise the new baby, who was conceived in November.
At the same time, there are rumors that Khloé is dating someone new. Who knows how the baby news will impact that alleged relationship. Either way, fans are really hoping Khloé never goes back to Tristan, not after the fiasco that was his cheating scandal. There's also the fact that the timing of the surrogacy doesn't reflect well on Thompson for a specific reason.
Fans Are Sure Khloé And Tristan's Baby Plans Were Ill-Timed
Although some KUWTK moments have been scripted and staged, viewers noticed how visibly uncomfortable Khloé was during the new show, which involved Tristan in its first season. By the time the show aired, just about everyone knew about Tristan's missteps, but Khloé had to relive it when the show actually premiered.
Fans have long been angry on her behalf, but the timing of both their surrogate pregnancy and the show itself got them riled up. Because, after all, at the time Tristan and Khloé were apparently planning to expand their family, he was already expecting a baby with someone else — and Kardashian supporters say he likely knew it.
One Redditor broke down the maternity math and noted, "No way that he didn't know that Maralee was pregnant when they were going through with the surrogacy. Theo was born in December, the surrogate was pregnant in September/October when she would have been well into the second trimester."
Another commenter suggested that Tristan "knew full well" he had another woman pregnant, but that he still wanted to "convince" Khloé to have another baby with him.
Did Khloé Know About Maralee's Pregnancy When Planning Her Second Child?
Fans pointed out that Khloé has spoken about wanting her daughter True to have a full biological sibling (she has an older half-brother named Prince and, of course, a younger brother named Theo), so some wonder whether she also knew about Maralee's pregnancy ahead of the surrogacy plans.
One Redditor quipped, "legitimately terrifying to witness such horrendous self esteem," referring to Kardashian's choice to keep going back to Thompson after he inspired many scandalous headlines.
While plenty of commenters (not necessarily fans) criticize Khloé for choosing to have another child with Tristan after his many scandals, it's worth noting that perhaps Khloé did want a second child with Tristan, regardless of the potential for the pregnancy to outlast their relationship.
She has seemed to suggest that he's a good dad to True, and they have been photographed together with their daughter since breaking up. Plus, because as Khloé has explained on the family's reality series, her doctor advised her against carrying another child herself due to health concerns.
Perhaps Khloé wanted another child either way, and Tristan was willing to help her conceive one (the two did freeze embryos together in the past, as captured by KUWTK), so she decided to go ahead because plans were already laid.
Regardless, everyone's hoping for a healthy baby at the end of it all, even if their famous parents never reconcile (because no one on Khloé's side of the matter would endorse that!).
