Creating a successful clothing line requires a keen sense of style and design and effective marketing and public relations strategies. For up-and-coming designers, a single negative review or critique can make or break their brand.

Jordyn Woods recently launched her clothing line, Woods by Jordyn last January, but it has been receiving a significant amount of negative feedback, with many critics pointing fingers at Khloe Kardashian as the reason behind the negative reception.

Woods’s relationship with the Kardashians became strained after she was caught in an affair with Khloe's on-and-off partner, Tristan Thompson. This incident led to Khloe reportedly breaking up with Thompson and cutting their family’s ties with Woods. Despite Jordyn’s attempts to apologize and clear the air, the Kardashians have seemingly distanced themselves from her.

Jordyn Woods Used To Model For Khloe Kardashian’s Clothing Line

Jordyn Woods has been involved in various fashion launches throughout her career. In 2018, she launched her activewear line, SECNDNTURE, which aimed to provide size-inclusive options. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Woods collaborated with Pretty Little Thing to create the Quarantine Collection. Her latest venture is her clothing line named Woods by Jordyn, which currently offers three mesh midi-dresses priced at $123 each.

Jordyn Woods gained recognition as the former BFF of Kylie Jenner and her modeling work for Khloe Kardashian's clothing line, Good American. The 25-year-old model was part of the debut campaign of Good American. More than two years ago, when Woods was still emerging in the modeling industry, Kardashian became her mentor and introduced her as a member of the Good Squad, a group associated with Good American.

"I’m so excited to be a part of this denim revolution with @khloekardashian and @goodamerican," Woods captioned on her Instagram post when she announced her participation in Khloe's size-inclusive brand back in October 2016.

According to People Magazine, Jordyn Woods was already removed from Good American's website. Before this, the website featured photos of Woods modeling Khloe Kardashian's designs, as well as a brief biography about her. However, following the controversy surrounding Woods and the alleged cheating scandal, her presence on the website has been completely removed.

Is Khloe Kardashian Sabotaging Jordyn Woods' Clothing Line?

Jordyn Woods’ clothing line received negative feedback from fans. Among these critiques, TikTok influencer Stella Williams has been particularly vocal, going so far as to unfollow the brand after receiving her dresses. In her videos posted on TikTok, Williams expressed her disappointment with the dress line, explaining that the material felt cheap and even compared it to the clearance section of Shein.

Williams further added that she felt offended to have spent $400 on the three dresses as she mentioned the quality of the dresses as a major drawback of the line. She also criticized the brand for what she perceived to be a focus on profit over quality, stating "it just feels like a cash grab."

In a subsequent video, Williams reiterated her negative opinion of the brand and its pricing, stating that she did not trust any influencer who spoke positively about the quality of the dresses.

Fans of Jordyn were curious as to why a particular TikTok influencer had posted multiple videos with negative reviews of the dresses. Some comments accused Williams of making a personal attack, as she had reportedly posted seven videos criticizing Woods' clothing line.

Others suggested that the influencer may have a bias against Woods, as she also models for Good American, a clothing brand owned by Khloe Kardashian. Some fans even alleged that maybe Khloe was paying her to post those videos to tarnish Woods’ brand and drag her image down.

However, Williams stood by her reviews in a statement she gave to Insider, "...my followers trust my honesty and I had to deliver. This sucked for me because I knew as a model, and a fan, this honest review was probably going to ruin any chances I had to work with the brand. My priority is protecting the wallets of those who watch my reviews on consumer goods. I've learned there's a way to be respectful, I never want to see a new brand, especially a young black woman, fail."

How Did Jordyn Woods Respond To The Backlash Over Her Clothing Line?

Stella Williams’ reviews quickly went viral on TikTok and soon after, fans were surprised when Woods responded directly to Williams' criticisms with two TikTok videos while wearing one of her brand's dresses. She began by thanking Williams for the constructive criticism and complimenting her, before addressing the negative comments.

"I will say, there is a way, to be honest, and real without bringing other people down or other influencers into it. Opinions are subjective until you've felt the material, and you know, some people are going to love it, and some people are not going to like it, and that's just what it is."

Woods also added, "When you're not mass-producing clothes, especially in this day and age, it costs a lot more money to make. But I do appreciate your constructive criticism. I would love to hear what brands provide the quality mesh that you are looking for and ways that I can improve, and we can continue to grow together."

After Woods' response videos, fans showed their support for her and praised her for her transparency and quick response. Some TikTok users were impressed with how she handled the criticisms, commenting that they had never seen a brand owner respond so well to a negative review. Others commended Woods for her attitude and called her response a "masterclass on how to turn criticism into feedback."

Her fans also acknowledged that the first launch of a brand is not always perfect and there is always room for improvement, especially for a new business. As per their website, Woods by Jordyn’s mission is to create an environment that encourages individuality, self-confidence, and inclusivity, with unapologetic behavior.
