Over the last several years, there have been loads of news stories covering the fact that people of all political persuasions often believe things at face value. Of course, when you see anything online, it pays to look into some reliable sources that pertain to the story before you buy into the premise.

When people believe something untrue about an important subject, that is a really bad thing for extremely obvious reasons. However, that doesn’t mean that all of the misinformation that can be found online pertains to serious issues. For example, a lot of movie theories that appear online have been put together by people who gathered random facts and combined them to come to an unsupported conclusion.

Amazingly enough, many people have claimed that they believe that Kristen Bell’s body is secretly covered in tattoos. Of course, some of those folks may have made those statements in jest. Either way, it begs an obvious question, why would anyone claim that Kristen Bell is heavily tattoed and keeping her ink a secret?

A Hilarious Origin

Over the last several years, a lot of actors have increasingly seen the value of starring in videos that go viral. For that reason, a lot of stars have appeared in comedy videos that were uploaded to YouTube. For example, Kristen Bell starred in a video called “Body of Lies” that was uploaded to Funny or Die’s YouTube channel.

In the roughly three-minute video, Kristen Bell and an actor pretending to be her makeup artist claim that she has to show up to set hours early to get all of her tattoos covered. In fact, the supposed makeup artist goes on to say “Kristen gets here at 3:30 am every morning. It takes about twelve to fourteen hours to cover up all of her tattoos.” From there, Bell herself says she has “214 professional tattoos and nine (she’s) done (herself)”.

If it wasn’t clear enough already that the video in which Kristen Bell has loads of tattoos is a joke, she then goes on to list some of them and they are truly ridiculous. For example, Bell says she has Steve Urkel on her left shoulder blade and Stefan Urquelle on her right, “representing the duality of man”. Bell also goes on to show off several foreign-language tattoos she says mean one thing while subtitles reveal the actual translations.

Buying In

Even though it seems so obvious that the Funny or Die video Kristen Bell starred in was fake, it resulted in some people actually believing she is covered in tattoos. As it turns out, the reason for that is that some parody websites covered the video and their readers simply didn’t pick up on the joke.

Incredibly enough, the Kristen Bell tattoo story picked up enough steam that Snopes.com actually published an article disproving it. Of course, in some cases, so-called “fact checks” are nothing more than one person telling their side of a story. In the case of the Snopes.com article about Kristen Bell’s supposed tattoos, however, it is very cut and dry that she isn’t covered in ink.

Kristen Bell An Tattoos

Now that there are so many media outlets online, celebrities tend to take part in more interviews than at any other time in the past. As a result, if you want to find out how your favorite star feels about any given subject, they will likely have talked about it at some point. For example, Kristen Bell has talked about whether or not she has any tattoos in the past and the supposed reason for that.

In 2016, Kristen Bell and Melissa McCarthy co-starred in The Boss together. While promoting that comedy film, the two actors took part in a Wired Autocomplete Interview. Several minutes into that video, Bell answered whether or not she has tattoos. “I’ve always wanted a tattoo, but my husband doesn’t like, uh, girls with tattoos.”

During the aforementioned Wired Autocomplete Interview, Kristen Bell and Melissa McCarthy were joking around so much that it almost seemed like they were punch drunk. For that reason, it is entirely possible that Bell was joking about her reasons for not getting a tattoo. After all, as Bell would go on to point out, her husband Dax Shepard has several tattoos including a bell on his ring finger that is dedicated to their relationship. Of course, assuming that Bell was telling the truth, the things that go on in her relationship aren’t anyone else’s business. On top of that, Bell and Shepard seem to be so delightful together that they are often considered the internet’s favorite couple.
