Kristen Stewart has reclaimed the “indie movie queen” throne with her new role.

From Emma Corrin’s incredible portrayal in The Crown, to Naomi Watts version of the People’s Princess in the 2013 film Diana, several actors have made an attempt to bring Lady Diana to life on the big and small-screen.

Twilight actor Kristen Stewart is the newest celeb on the block to take her turn as the Princess, in Pablo Larraín’s promising film festival-favorite Spencer. The actress portrays Diana with charm and elegance, and has been surrounded by Oscar buzz since the poster was released.

“I love what Kristen Stewart did with her hands in this entire scene. The pent up emotions and feeling trapped, all conveyed through her fingers…. AMAZING,” a fan wrote.

The official synopsis from NEON, the film’s production company reads: "The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There's eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game."

"But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days."

The trailer promises a never-seen-before, complex look at Diana's life as she deals with her impending divorce over the Royal Family's Christmas break at their Sandringham Estate.

Spencer is scheduled to be released in theaters in the US and the UK on Friday, November 5.
