The NFL is celebrating its 100th season, and for a professional sports league to reach that milestone, it means that it has been able to produce star players who are capable of making the product very entertaining. The league has seen the emergence of great quarterbacks in every decade, including this one, as there are currently nearly a dozen quarterbacks who will be going into the Hall of Fame after they retire.

Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are both extremely young, and have minimal experience, but their respective skills are off the charts, to the point that they can be considered the future of the NFL. Since their debuts, both quarterbacks have attracted many fans, fans who think they know them really well, but even the biggest of fans cannot know everything, and with that said, here are 20 things you may have not known about these two amazing young quarterbacks.

18 Jackson: He's The Youngest Heisman Trophy Winner

Every year, the NCAA awards the Heisman Trophy to the most outstanding football player, and Lamar Jackson received this award in 2016. Considering that this is a collegiate award, it means that the recipients are all very young, but when Jackson won it, he was just 19 years and 337 days old, making him the youngest winner in history.

17 Jackson: He's Very Fast

Quarterbacks need to be able to throw a football, but they also need to be able to run, and Lamar Jackson is a very capable runner. During the NFL combine, Jackson declined the 40-yard dash because he knew he did not need to prove how fast he was, as his former college coach stated that he clocked one of his 40-yard dashes at 4.47 seconds.

16 Mahomes: He's Been Robbed

In 2017, Mahomes was a backup for the Chiefs, which means that he was already an NFL player, but even NFL players have to sometimes deal with bad things that usually effect ordinary people. While leaving a baseball game with some friends in Texas, a man approached and threatened them, stealing several items in the process.

15 Mahomes: Scouts Undervalued Him

Patrick is the NFL's reigning MVP, which means that a large number of college scouts now look very foolish, as they did not think much of him while he was in high school. These scouts considered him to be a three-star recruit, while ranking him the 12th-best dual threat quarterback in his class.

14 Jackson: He Has A Day Named After Him

Jackson was born and raised in Pompano Beach, Florida, and as of right now, he is the best athlete that the city has produced. Aside from his notoriety, Jackson has involved himself with the youth of his hometown's community, which is why the city's Mayor officially declared that the last Saturday of every July will be known as Lamar Demeatrice Jackson Jr. Day.

13 Jackson: He Was A Track Star

Prior to entering college, Jackson attended and played football for Boyton Beach High School in Florida, but that was not the only sport he took part in while attending the school. Jackson was also a member of the school's track team, where his personal record for the 100 meter dash was 11.45 seconds.

12 Mahomes: He Molded His Game After Aaron Rogers

Patrick has the potential to become one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, but even the best players have to base their play style on someone. When it comes to Patrick, he modeled his game after Aaron Rogers, which is not all that surprising seeing as Rogers is arguably one of this decade's best quarterbacks.

11 Mahomes: His Arm Is A Literal Rocket

Quarterbacks really need to be able to throw the football in today's NFL, and based on that fact alone, the Chiefs are very lucky to have Mahomes on their roster. He may not get to show it off all the time, but Mahomes' arm is a legit rocket, as evidenced by his 2017 Pro-Day performance, which saw him throw a nearly 80-yard pass.

10 Jackson: He Was Under-Recruited In College

Practically every NFL player was scouted while they were in high school and college, including Lamar, and he was actually under-recruited coming out of high school. Jackson was listed as a three-star recruit, which means that he was not considered to be good enough to receive an in-person interview with college recruiters.

9 Jackson: He Could Have Been A Wide Receiver

Coming into the NFL combine, people were not completely sold on Lamar's upside as a quarterback, but they did like what they heard about his speed. According to several sources from the NFL Network, several teams wanted to see Jackson test as a wide receiver, but he turned down all of those requests.

8 Mahomes: His Girlfriend Is Also An Athlete

Pro athletes may be incredibly fit and wealthy, but they are ordinary people like the rest of us, which means that they get into relationships too. Mahomes has been with Brittany Matthews since high school, and while in college, she played soccer at such a level that she was able to join a professional team in Iceland before retiring to become a trainer.

7 Mahomes: His Father's A Pro Athlete Too

In order to become a professional athlete, it helps if athleticism runs in your genes, and when it comes to Patrick, that is indeed the case. Patrick's dad is Pat Mahomes, a former MLB pitcher who played for the Twins, Red Sox, Mets, Cubs, Rangers, and Pirates; and his godfather happens to be former pitcher, LaTroy Hawkins.

6 Jackson: He's Media Shy

When you are the starting quarterback for an NFL team, a lot of things are expected from you from a leadership standpoint, including media availability. Jackson however, is known for being rather media shy, which is why he had to receive some special training, but he also asked for some help from reporters in order to better conduct interviews.

5 Jackson: He Had Difficulty With Playbooks

Normally, you need to be able to read a playbook if you want to play on a football team, but some players have a harder time doing this than others. In Lamar's case, he was unable to read a playbook until he got to college, and he did not even use one while playing in high school, instead his coach simply drew up patterns for him.

4 Mahomes: He Had A Huge NCAA Record Setting Game

On October 22, 2016, Mahomes lost to Oklahoma in an intense 66-59 affair, and although he and his team came up short, he made it into the record book several times. He set the record for single-game total offense with 819 yards, he tied the single-game passing record with 734 yards, and he shares the record for most total offense between two players with Baker Mayfield.

3 Mahomes: He Threw A No-Hitter

If your dad was a Major League ballplayer, it makes sense that you would try to follow in his footsteps, which is why Patrick also played baseball while in high school. In his senior year, Patrick actually managed to throw a no-hitter while also striking out 16 players in the same game.

2 Jackson: His Mom Is His Manager

Every single pro athlete has an agent, it is just part of the business, but when it comes to Lamar, he decided to not leave his financial dealings in the hands of a stranger. Before getting drafted, Lamar announced that he would not be hiring an agent, and would instead have his mom, Felicia Jones, serve as his manager.

1 Mahomes: He Almost Quit Football

In his short time in the league, Mahomes has shown that he is an elite player, but if things had gone a bit differently, we may have never seen him in the NFL. After high school, Patrick's dad believed that he needed to focus more on baseball or basketball if he wanted to become a pro athlete, and when Texas Tech wanted him to play as a safety, he almost considered it.
