Calling all Canadian Potterheads-- Netflix Canada has announced that a number of the Harry Potter films are coming to the service next month.
After die-hard Harry Potter fans repeatedly asked Netflix Canada to add their beloved films to its lineup, the streaming service has decided to grant them their wish, or at least half of it!
you guys have been asking for them and they're finally coming ...— Netflix Canada (@Netflix_CA) January 23, 2019
... the final four Harry Potter movies arrive on Feb 1.
That’s right, on February 1 witches, wizards and muggles will be able to stream the final four Harry Potter films on Netflix Canada.
“If you ever wanted to watch the last half of the Harry Potter franchise only (and arguably the better half) and not the first half due to territorial licensing, then boy are you in for a treat!” reads a tweet from Netflix Canada.

Potterheads are not sure how they feel about it-- while some fans seemed disappointed that the entire series wasn’t being added, others are thrilled about the news.

According to Netflix, the reason the first iconic movies will not be available to watch is due to "territorial licensing." This came as a major disappointment to some fans, so much so that they took to Twitter to unleash their fury, with one user even threatening to quit Netflix altogether.
I want all of them or none of them. You have to have the full franchise of these sequential franchises. Why are there territorial issues?— KellyRae (@CHIVERsTEA) January 23, 2019
Might just delete my Netflix bc of this statement— Andy (@AndyBujor) January 23, 2019

Here are the four movies that will be available for streaming as of this Friday:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which is the fifth instalment in the series. The story follows Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts as the Ministry of Magic is in denial over Lord Voldemort's return.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is the sixth instalment in the Harry Potter film series. The story follows Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts as he receives a mysterious textbook, realizes he likes his best friend’s sister, and attempts to retrieve a memory that holds the key to the downfall of He Who Must Not Be Named.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is the seventh and penultimate instalment in the series, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is the eighth and final one. The story continues to follow Harry Potter's quest to find and destroy You-Know-Who's Horcruxes in order to stop him once and for all.
So, what are you waiting for? Clear your week-end, like my daughter forced me to do!
