After a month of shooting, the Gossip Girl reboot has finally wrapped. Based on fan reactions to teasers and behind-the-scenes photos, a lot of people will be tuning in to see the new generation of Upper East Siders deal with the return of the Gossip Girl. However, it seems that Leighton Meester, who played Blair Waldorf in the original series, will not be watching.

In an exclusive interview with WSJ. Magazine, Meester’s husband, Adam Brody, revealed that they won’t be watching the revival. “I highly doubt we’ll watch it front to back,” he said. “I don’t think we’re the audience, but I’m sure we’ll dip our toes in.”

The reboot will take place eight years after the original Gossip Girl website “went dark,” as a new generation of teenagers is introduced to the mysterious, toublemaking site.

Even though Meester might not tune in to the reboot, the possibility of her reprising the role of Blair still remains unclear. In 2019, Leighton told E! News that she was never asked to appear in the reboot.

“No one’s ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don’t know,” she said. “No one’s sent me that information, it’s coming from you.”

The only cast member that is set to return for the reboot is Kristen Bell, who was the voice of Gossip Girl in the original series. However, Chace Crawford, who played Nate Archibald in the original, told Entertainment Weekly that he's open to appearing on the reboot.

"I just love Josh and Stephanie and if they wanted me to come and do anything it would be hard to say no," he said. "I'm always grateful for the opportunity they gave me and that whole experience — it was all of my 20s, it was like my college, living in New York for that time. I'll always have fond memories of it."

Last year, Penn Badgley, who played Dan Humphrey, told Entertainment Tonight that he would also be open to returning. However, he hasn't spoken to the creators yet. "I would love to contribute in a meaningful way to it," he added.
