Liam Hemsworth has remained a high-profile celebrity throughout his career in Hollywood. He’s got some serious acting talent and was dating (and then not dating) a certain pop diva. He was then engaged to her. They married and divorced. Of course, we're talking about his famous ex, Miley Cyrus! Also, let's be honest...he’s definitely one of the best-looking celebs out there.

With a public profile as impressive as that, you’d think that everything about him would be common knowledge. While most of it is (we think), there are a few lesser-known things to learn about this Australian actor.

From the odd jobs he worked as a teenager, to his strange obsession with a certain furry creature, some things Liam has revealed about himself are actually quite shocking. We’ve put together a few of those facts for your reading pleasure. Now, it's time to learn a little bit more about your fave Hemsworth brother (although Chris is definitely a close second, right?).

Here are 15 interesting facts about Miley’s ex Liam Hemsworth!

15 He Was A Competitive Surfer

Liam Hemsworth was well-known outside of showbiz, for being an athlete!

Growing up on the coast of Australia means a lot of time spent at the beach, and in Liam’s case, out on the water. He surfed competitively until the age of 18 and admitted in an interview with Men’s Health that if he could travel around the world and surf for a living, he definitely would.

14 He Worked Quite A Few Odd Jobs Growing Up

Liam Hemsworth grew up on a tiny island in Australia (Phillip Island), which didn’t leave him with many options when it came to looking for a job. So, when he wasn’t laying on the beach, Liam had to work some pretty interesting jobs to earn some cash. He once worked at a bakery. He also had a job at a bowling alley. He was even a park ranger!

13 Brotherly... Love?

Most brothers go through a bit of a rough patch where the arguing never seems to come to an end. The Hemsworth brothers were no exception when they were growing up, but they certainly had a more…intense way of handling things.

Liam admitted once in an interview that, during an argument with his brother Chris, he actually threw a knife at his head. Luckily, Chris wasn’t injured. To get back at their younger brother for just being, well, the youngest, Chris and Luke would put Liam in the dryer (without the heat on) and “just let him spin around”.

What. A. Household.

Having your mom as your schoolteacher must be pretty tough. It’s weird for you, it’s weird for your friends, it’s just weird for everyone. Especially when she’s your sex-ed teacher.

Liam’s mom was an English teacher but was also responsible for giving sex education classes. Liam claimed that it made him so uncomfortable that he just stopped showing up for class. We don’t blame you, Liam.

11 He's A Vegan

Don’t be fooled - no animals were harmed in the making of that burger. Liam Hemsworth proves you can have your burgers and eat them, too. by going the plant-based route. He became a vegan back in 2015, claiming that “after seeing the mistreatment of animals, he couldn’t continue to eat meat”.

Whatever he’s doing is certainly working for him!

10 He Was Almost Thor

We all know and love Chris Hemsworth and his ability to play Marvel’s Thor, but he almost lost out on that role to his own brother! Liam made it to the final four guys who auditioned for the role, beating out his brother Chris.

The casting directors ultimately decided that Liam was too young for the role and therefore chose the next best option...Chris!

9 He's Fascinated By... Squirrels

Yes, you read that right. Liam Hemsworth is amazed by squirrels.

8 He's Moved On From Miley

Luke mainly stays in Australia for his roles. This is why he’s not famous in the U.S.

2 He's Not So Tough After All
