With super-talented parents like Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp, fans might think that Lily-Rose Depp has it made in multiple departments. She's gorgeous, for starters, with fans saying she looks just like her mom, but also talented in terms of her acting abilities and fashion-model prowess.

The thing is, her last film didn't go over well with critics. Though the starlet, who's earned awards for achievements like 'Most Promising Actress,' this big-name film was almost a complete flop if critics' and fans' responses to it are anything to go by.

To be fair, early previews hinted at a blockbuster of epic proportions. Deadline revealed the cast early on, touting big names like Depp's, plus other recognizable actors like Tye Sheridan, Colin Farrell, Fionn Whitehead, and Isaac Hempstead Wright. And the studio behind it -- Lionsgate -- was equally excited about the prospect of a "sophisticated and stylish event sci-fi thriller."

Lionsgate Had High Hopes For 'Voyagers'

With projects like 'John Wick' under its belt, the production team behind the movie 'Voyagers' all but promised "an elevated horror film with deep and complex morality themes."

But as potential viewers who wound up opting out exclaimed on social media post-trailer, the film really fell flat. It wasn't necessarily Lily-Rose's fault, though.

Though it's rated PG-13, plenty of would-be fans were turned off by the film's in-your-face adult themes. And as Rotten Tomatoes summed up, the movie was "ripe" with potential but drifted into "familiar orbit" instead of discovering anything uncharted.

Many reviewers summed it up as an interstellar 'Lord of the Flies,' only with a cast that's a bit older and far more affected by illicit substances.

Overall, Rotten Tomatoes rates the film at 27 percent, which isn't bottom-of-the-barrel by any means. But with critics calling the movie, among other choice terms, "lazy," "trapped in a narrative corner," and "dull." Yikes -- even a talk show from Will Smith earned much higher ratings.

How Does Lily-Rose's Acting Stack Up?

The one saving grace of 'Voyagers' may have been its star-studded cast. With so many young, up-and-coming actors, the movie had something going for it from the start. In fact, one audience member noted, "Parents will see the plot twists coming a mile away..."

That's one way to highlight that the gorgeous faces on screen are the primary highlight of this sci-fi flop. In fact, some reviewers pointed to the lack of flexibility in the script as one of the barriers to letting Lily-Rose and the rest of the cast truly shine, noted Cinema Blend. Reviewers said the movie was unoriginal and called it out for making Depp's role "too safe."

The good news, though, is that Depp has plenty more films coming up, so maybe they'll detract from the disappointment that was 'Voyagers.'
