Celebrity culture was quite different in the 2000s than it is today. There was no social media and paparazzi footage was in higher demand then what the celebrities in question had to say. Two of the biggest stars who dealt with this level of scrutiny were Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. The two famous faces dominated the tabloids and had paparazzi following their every move.

Their personal lives were headline news and every breakup was talked about around the world. Lohan was once asked about Spears during a red carpet interview with a reporter. She was asked to comment on Spears' recent divorce from Kevin Federline.

Her answer wasn't what the reporter expected or wanted, but it said a lot about Lohan's perspective of the fame she was experiencing at the time.

Lindsay Tells Reporter That She 'Doesn't Care' About News Of Britney Spears Getting Divorced

Lindsay Lohan is someone who knows all too well what it feels like to be subjected to unwanted scrutiny. Her life has also been the center of tabloid speculation. Whether it was about her dysfunctional family or her partying, Lohan knew about the pressure of having the whole world talk about your private life.

Therefore, when a reporter asked her about Spears' divorce in 2006, Lohan's response came as no surprise.

The reporter began by asking Lohan if she had any advice for Spears. "In terms of what?" Lohan asked. The reporter then told her the news of Spears' divorce from Federline.

"Oh, I didn't even know that actually," Lohan said. "That's none of my business." "Are you surprised?" the reporter asked. "I really don't care," Lohan said.

Lohan's answer showed that unlike a lot of other people, she wasn't about to publicly gossip about another celebrity. She knew all too well how that felt.

Lindsay Meets Up With Britney And Paris Hilton In A Now-Infamous Photo

Shortly after news of her divorce broke, Spears was spotted out on the town. At first, many were complimentary of Spears' new look.

She made a surprise appearance on David Letterman's late night show and was seen ice skating at Rockefeller Center. However, those compliments soon turned to criticism when Spears was seen at clubs with Paris Hilton.

Hilton was seen as a party girl who was famous for being famous. Her family name alone granted her celebrity status and many resented her for that.

They also felt that Spears, being a new mother, should've been at home taking care of her kids instead of partying until all hours of the night.

At the end of one night out, paparazzi snapped a picture of Hilton, Spears, and Lohan in the front seat of a car. The shot has lived on in infamy as an iconic moment in pop culture.

However, there are different accounts of what exactly happened that night.

When speaking to Andy Cohen, Hilton claimed that she and Spears were out one night and Lohan "party crashed." She said that Lohan "chased" them outside as they were leaving and hopped in the car. Hilton said that she doesn't remember how Lohan got home that night.

Lohan went on Cohen's show after Hilton's appearance and disagreed with her version of events. As Cohen told Lohan what Hilton said, she insisted that version of the story isn't true.

"Maybe she doesn't remember it," Lohan said. "End of story." Lohan didn't go into much detail, however, saying that she didn't want to talk about Hilton.

Lindsay Lohan Reunites With Britney Spears And Makes Up With Paris Hilton

In 2009, a photograph emerged in the media of Spears and Lohan together again. The two were seen posing at a table together. That same year, Spears was touring the world in support of her "Circus" album. Lohan is said to have attended the show in Los Angeles.

Lohan also had a reunion with Hilton as well. In 2022, Hilton revealed that the two are on good terms during an episode of Watch What Happens Live.

"I just feel like we’re grown-ups now," she said. "I just got married. She just got engaged. We’re not in high school. I think it was just very immature and now everything is all good."

Hilton went on to talk about how she broke the ice with Lohan.

"I saw that she got engaged when I was on my honeymoon, and I just said congratulations," Hilton said.

Hilton also reflected on the infamous photo of the three of them together on her podcast This Is Paris.

"I got married, Britney [Spears] got her freedom back and engaged, and then Lindsay just got engaged. So I love just seeing how different our lives are now and just how much we’ve all grown up and just having love in our lives," she said.

"And I think that love is the most important thing in life, it’s something that really just changes you and makes you grow, and when you find that special person that is your other half and is your best friend and you can trust…that’s just an amazing feeling."
