6 Lindsey Buckingham Allegedly Almost Made Stevie Nicks Quit Music

As anyone who has followed the history of Fleetwood Mac should already know, Lindsey Buckingham’s bandmate he had the biggest fights with was his ex-girlfriend Stevie Nicks. For example, before Nicks and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, the pair recorded an album titled “Buckingham Nicks” together. According to a biography titled “Gold Dust Woman” from writer Stephen Davis, things were so bad during a photoshoot for that album’s cover that Nicks almost quit music. According to the story, Nicks didn’t feel comfortable being topless but covered in the album cover. When she expressed that feeling, Buckingham told her “Don’t be a f*****g child. This is art.” After relenting to the photo, Nicks felt violated and almost quit the business.

5 John McVie Allegedly Got Violent With Lindsey Buckingham

During the recording of the legendary Fleetwood Mac album “Rumors”, tensions within the band bubbled over. According to a Far Out Magazine article about the album, that led to John McVie lashing out at Lindsey Buckingham in a violent incident that could have caused injuries. Based on the story, McVie once got so mad at Buckingham that he threw a glass bottle of alcohol at his bandmate’s head. While Buckingham was able to dodge the bottle, if he didn’t move in time that could have done some serious damage.

4 Lindsey Buckingham Allegedly Got Violent With Stevie Nicks On Stage

In 2015, Stevie Nicks spoke to Rolling Stone and unsurprisingly, her explosive relationship with Lindsey Buckingham came up. According to what Nicks said during that interview and Christine McVie has confirmed, Buckingham got violent with Stevie on stage during Fleetwood Mac’s “Tusk” tour. According to Nicks, Buckingham kicked her and threw his guitar at her while both were on stage. On top of that, during another interview with Louder Sound, Nicks revealed that she once attacked Buckingham in McVie’s house. In response, Buckingham chased her out of the house and then up the street and back again. According to Nicks, she feared for her life when she was running from Buckingham.

3 Why Christine McVie Allegedly Hit Lindsey Buckingham Once

On top of the aforementioned instances of Lindsey Buckingham kicking and throwing his guitar at Stevie Nicks onstage, he also allegedly has tripped her and mocked her during performances. According to a Washington Post article, Buckingham’s behavior deeply upset his bandmate, Christine McVie. As a result, she sought him out after one of the group’s concerts where he acted like that and McVie hit Buckingham.

When Lindsey Buckingham was kicked out of Fleetwood Mac, fans weren’t the only ones who were upset. After all, Buckingham wound up taking suing his former bandmates in a lawsuit that was later settled out of court. Once Buckingham’s gripes with his former bandmates became a legal issue that eventually was settled, it would have been great if that resulted in peace between the two parties. Instead, Buckingham decided to take a very personal shot at his former bandmate and ex-girlfriend Stevie Nicks while talking to CBS Sunday Morning at that time. “I think sometimes [Stevie] might find it difficult that I was lucky enough to find my soul mate late in life and got married. And that was something she never did.” After those comments, it was reported that Buckingham and his wife were getting divorced though it was later revealed they are working on their marriage.
