Although Love Island UK may now be considered one of the most successful shows on British TV, it wasn’t always the huge hit it is now. In fact, it wasn’t until the second season of the series in 2016 that its following began to grow and grow. Now after 6 years, the series is on its 8th season and Love Island is bigger than ever. With many of the series’ past contestants having seen huge changes in their lives following their participation on the show, it’s pretty safe to say that Love Island opens up a wide range of opportunities for its fan-favorite islanders.

From becoming millionaires to tying the knot with their Love Island partners, several of the islanders from the years past began their journey to success and fame following their departure from the villa. However, despite their public presence due to their popularity on the show, only fellow islanders truly know what the contestants were like during their Love Island days. So let’s take a look at some of the juiciest info that past islanders have dished on each other.

8 Anton Danyluk Dissed Every 2019 Islander But One

In 2019, Love Island viewers were introduced to cheeky Scottish chap Anton Danyluk in the first episode of the season. Danyluk quickly became a villa favorite due to his humor and the close bonds he formed with the other islanders. However, it seems as though these bonds did not extend to life outside the villa. In 2021, Danyluk revealed his true thoughts on his fellow Love Island contestants, to the Daily Mail. He explicitly outlined how, apart from Anna Vakili, he was not fond of any other fellow islanders.

Danyluk stated, “People come off the show, get their blue tick, get their million followers and go so far up their a**es it's unbelievable.” Before later adding, “I only speak to Anna, that's it. Me and Anna are very close.”

7 Anna Vakili Labeled Curtis Pritchard “A Narcissist”

It seems as though Danyluk isn’t the only 2019 Love Island contestant to have less than pleasant feelings towards some of their past castmates. During an interview with Murad Merali, fellow 2019 contestant Anna Vakili revealed her true feelings for some of the other islanders from her season and explicitly detailed who she hadn’t been too fond of. Whilst the 31-year-old ex-pharmacist detailed how she didn’t feel any negative feelings towards the majority of the 2019 cast, Vakili did mention how two islanders, in particular, had been the exception; Lucie Donlan and Curtis Pritchard. Whilst speaking about 26-year-old dancer Pritchard, Vakili stated how she did not agree with his behavior both in and outside the Love Island villa and even labeled him a “narcissist”.

6 Despite Their Heavy Fallout On The Show, Anna Vakili And Jordan Hames Are Friends

Also, during the Merali interview, Vakili made the surprising revelation that despite their massive falling out in the 2019 Love Island season, she and ex-boyfriend Jordan Hames were now on “very good terms.” During the season, audiences saw Vakili explode at then-boyfriend Hames after he had pulled fellow contestant India Reynolds to the side to confess his true feelings for her.

However, all seems to be forgiven as Vakili stated, “Do you know what, I’m on really good terms with him [Hames]. I say hi and bye whenever I see him.” Before later adding, “There’s no point in holding on to anger.”

5 2021’s Rachel Finni’s Problem With Former Love Island Partner Brad McClelland

Another Merali interview in which some juicy anecdotes and Love Island bits of gossip were revealed was that with 2021’s Rachel Finni. Unfortunately for the 29-year-old ex-contestant, Finni was not as lucky in finding love on the show as others were, and was swiftly dumped from the island only 8 days after her arrival. During her time on the show, Finni was coupled up with 26-year-old Brad McClelland, before he made the choice to recouple with Lucinda Strafford. Whilst speaking to Merali, Finni highlighted how she had believed McClelland to have only shown interest in her for the sake of remaining in the competition. Whilst Finni revealed that she’d had no issues with that, she later went on to state how it was McClelland’s way of going about the situation and playing up the attraction and coupling that had bothered her.

4 This Winning Couple No Longer Has Any Contact With Each Other

Whilst many of the Love Island couples go on to have successful and lasting relationships after their departure from the show, other couples do not fare so well. 2017 winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies seem to have fallen in the latter category. During a 2019 interview with Fabulous Magazine [Via: The Mirror] the West End performer highlighted how she and Cetinay were no longer in contact, yet she still wished only the best for him.

Davies stated, “We don’t see each other, we don’t speak,” before later adding, “I wish him well, but I don’t know him.”

3 The Bridesmaid Debacle Between These 2016 Besties

During the second season of Love Island in 2016, audiences saw two of the OG girls, Olivia Buckland and eventual winner Cara De La Hoyde develop a close bond and inseparable friendship throughout the series. However, it seems as though this was yet another bond that did not stand the test of time. In 2017, news came out of Buckland’s engagement to her Love Island beau Alex Bowen. Whilst originally De La Hoyde was set to be Buckland’s maid of honor, a rift between the pair caused De La Hoyde to lose the title.

Buckland stated, “Cara’s got baby Freddie now and when I asked her she was a lot less busy, and I thought she could handle the pressure.” She later added, "But we spoke about it, and she's so busy with Freddie, and she’s got so much on her plate that I felt like it was pressuring her."

2 The Truth Behind This 2018 Failed Relationship

As is typical of the reality dating show, many of the relationships that are explored in Love Island tend to get tested. Whilst some are able to withstand the cheeky challenges and shocking bombshells, others have crumbled under the pressure throughout the duration of the show. One particular relationship that audiences saw crash and burn on-screen, was that between 2018’s Rosie Williams and Adam Collard. Williams was left heartbroken when Collard decided to ditch her for day 15 newcomer Zara McDermott. Whilst the pair hadn’t been coupled up together for too long before the split, Williams revealed the true extent of their relationship that audiences did not see on screen. Whilst speaking to Express, Williams highlighted how Collard had actually been far more invested in her than audiences got to see.

She stated, “I thought he was genuine. [He said] things to me about our future, meeting each others’ parents, and having a relationship outside of the villa, people only see an hour a night, and I don’t know if people saw how strong our relationship was.”

1 This 2020 Contestant Was A Known Rule Breaker In The Villa

As many of the past islanders have revealed, there is a strict set of rules that all contestants must abide by daily in order to remain in the villa. One of these includes the restriction of one alcoholic drink per night for all islanders should they wish to consume alcohol. However, it seems as though not everyone follows that rule as 2020’s Winter Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips revealed. Whilst speaking to Closer, Phillips highlighted how her ex-Love Island partner Callum Jones would often break this rule and sneakily consume far more alcoholic beverages than was allowed.
