If DC Comics fans in the United States didn't know who Tom Ellis was pre-'Lucifer,' they sure have a healthy respect for the actor now. But he has been on the acting scene quite a while, and not just since 2016 when the Fox show premiered.

Ellis actually has a more illustrious acting resume than viewers may have assumed. US audiences may not have heard of him pre-'Lucifer' since he mostly appeared on BBC programs. Those credits are fairly impressive, though.  The 42-year-old star previously acted on 'Miranda,' played a king on 'Merlin,' and even had an appearance on 'Doctor Who.'

Tom also padded his pockets with a long list of cameos on sitcoms, and a long run on 'EastEnders,' too. Suffice it to say, he's no newbie. So, how much is the star worth after all this acting?

CheatSheet claimed that as of 2019, Ellis was worth $6M. That's not bad for a married dad of three who seems to be pretty low-key about his fame and career.

CheatSheet notes that the actor may be earning as much as $50K per episode of 'Lucifer' for the newer seasons running on Netflix. However, those figures haven't been confirmed, leaving fans to speculate... And also think that Ellis may be up for a raise on his next project.

It may not sound like much, compared with what other Netflix stars like Sarah Jessica Parker are earning for their sitcoms. But for an actor with a bit less history in the sitcom world, or maybe not as fab hair as Carrie, $50K per episode doesn't sound like chump change. Besides, Ellis' earnings from guest appearances have helped round out his acting income, too.

Of course, prior to the Netflix deal, his salary could have been much different. When the show came out in 2016, Fox had high hopes. But the ratings were low for the first three seasons, leading Fox to abandon the series. Ellis could've missed out on at least a million in earnings!

But Netflix grabbed the show for season four, and it's only been getting better since.

Tom's all about his role as Lucifer, too, giving fans sneak peeks of the upcoming season (all while criticizing political figures). Unfortunately, the show is reportedly about to come to an end; the final season was scheduled as of June 2020.

Until then (well, and after!), fans will have to be content with bingeing past episodes and reliving all the amazing Lucifer action. Of course, they can also catch Tom in other movies and shows, like 'Isn't It Romantic' (playing a doctor) and even on a couple of episodes of 'Queen America.' Hopefully, the money's good!
