You don’t need Scully and Mulder to help you figure out why some celebrity children follow in their parent’s footsteps. Sometimes that’s just the natural order to things in Hollywood, it's not out of this world.

Most children of celebrities just can’t resist the attraction of stardom, because it’s basically all they’ve ever known. Sometimes it's almost impossible not to carry on the tradition that can often be generational.

For West Duchovny, otherwise known as Madelaine West Duchovny, the decision to become a young actress seems to have been a no brainer. She's seen weirder things happen, with her father playing Mulder on The X-Files.

While her father, David Duchovny, is moving on with his new girlfriend after being single since he divorced her mother, Téa Leoni, West has started her career as an actress and an entrepreneur (She's got a really successful Depop).

Duchovny must be so proud. Here's how his daughter is following in his shoes.

She Has Both Her Parents To Guild Her In The Industry

While starring on The X-Files, Duchovny married Téa Leoni (known for The Family Man and Jurassic Park III) in 1997. They had Madelaine West Duchovny in 1999 and their son, Kyd Miller Duchovny, in 2002.

Duchovny and Leoni separated in 2008, got back together in 2009, separated again in 2011, and ultimately divorced in 2014.

We don't know how her parent's divorce affected her, but it's obvious that West was inspired by their line of work. When The X-Files was revived for the 11th season, she joined her father in one episode, "My Struggle IV," where she played Maddy. She was 19 years old. She also starred in the television movie, Sick, that same year.

The next year, she played an intern in The Report, which starred Adam Driver, Annette Bening, and Jon Hamm. That same year, she played Whitley in three episodes of the television show The Magicians.

This year she is starring in Linoleum, a film about a host of a children's science show who decides to become an astronaut. She's set to play Darcy and co-stars with Jim Gaffigan and Amy Hargreaves.

It looks like she might have teased the film on her Instagram account too. She posted a video of herself on camera and a still of her and her co-stars Katelyn Nacon and Gabriel Rush.

She's also starring in Amy Koppelman's A Mouthful of Air, as an ice cream girl, alongside actress Amanda Seyfried.

She's Landed A Role In An HBO Max Series.

Last February, Deadline announced that West landed a reoccurring role as Paige in HBO Max's new series, Vegas High, alongside Jordana Spiro and Josh Andrés Rivera.

The series is a coming-of-age drama set in the '90s, based on the writer, Sarah-Raquel Jimenez's experiences. It follows the life of Laura, "a girl who’s caught between two worlds: the fast-paced lifestyle of Las Vegas and her strong Mormon faith and community." Paige is the faithful President of the Mormon Church’s “Young Women” organization. This will be her first major role.

West's other talents include her knack for selling clothes on her Depop account. She's sold 223 items on her site and she models the clothes herself. She also has 17 thousand followers on her Instagram account, where she's posted various throwback photos of her and her parents.

So far, West's career is starting off great, but with her parent's to guide her, were we really expecting anything less? It'll be interesting to see how her career progresses. We'll keep an eye out, but something tells us seeing her in another project sooner rather than later won't be as rare as a U.F.O sighting.
