Now you can make your own Margaritaville, so to speak, complete with its own slurpy skyscraper. New York City's Mad Dog and Beans Mexican Cantina offers up to 10 different flavors of their Margarita Towers novelty that's about a yard tall and holds about three liters, or roughly a hundred ounces.
And if you're in a group of four or more, you can select 10 unique flavors, made from fresh fruit puree instead of those sugary syrup concoctions. The result is a genuinely organic experience that entices those with $110 to burn to sip on them all day. And if you want an extra flavour, that's an extra $10, and with such options as blood orange, blackberry, coconut, raspberry, guava, mango, passion fruit, pomegranate, strawberry and spicy serrano, it's not unusual for cantina patrons to take the staff up on that offer.

There's a Mad Dog and Beans in both the financial and midtown district of the Big Apple, where working ummm... stiffs can celebrate their latest killing on Wall Street or drown their sorrows if the NYSE went south that day. Regardless of how your day turned out, the massive size of these tequila concoctions will ensure that you won't likely be able to drink alone, so definitely bring a support group.
The towers are certainly a draw on Tequila Tasting Wednesdays, Cinquo De Mayo (May 5 to you Anglophone folks) and other events such as National Margarita Day back in February, which enticed those old enough to drink to do their patriotic duty and break out a glass or even a tower of the potent stuff.
And if there's any room for something to soak up that tequila in your belly, folks stay for what's on the menu. The Mexican themed appetizers include munchables going as low as chips and salsa for $4 to black bean chicken sliders and Cabo cocnut shrimp going for $11. Salads range from the $9 house offering to the $16 chicken Savannah. As for main dishes, Mad Dog can make you anything from a $15 burrito to a $28 fajita combination plate.
If Margarita Towers make you scared of heights, you can also get tequila on tap. But regardles of how you order it, be forewarned that drinks do not include Jimmy Buffett.
