Margot Robbie has solidified herself as more than just a pretty face in Hollywood. While there is no denying the Birds of Prey star is beautiful, Robbie also has some serious acting talent. A combination of which she used while portraying her breakout role as Naomi Lapaglia in The Wolf of Wall Street, a movie role that not only catapulted Robbie's career but caught the attention of Hugh Hefner in the process.

Before filming and getting her payday for The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie knew that her character would be involved in nude scenes. For veteran actors, they may not have been a big deal. But for Robbie, this was the first time being involved in scenes that called for her to be undressed, a situation that was so "intimidating" that the Focus star needed to take a tequila shot before filming to calm her nerves.

As daunting as Robbie felt it initially was to undress in front of Leonardo DiCaprio and the crew, she felt that the nudity was necessary to portray Naomi, a woman whose "body is her only form of currency in this world," properly. And because of this, Robbie did the full-frontal scene in the film, a move that made moviegoers take notice, including one, Hugh Hefner.

Here is why Margot Robbie flat-out refused a Playboy offer straight from Hugh Hefner.

Viewing The Wolf Of Wall Street Sealed The Deal For Hugh Hefner

As a result of her portrayal of Naomi, Robbie instantly became an instant sex symbol. And what sells better than sex symbols in men's magazines? This is why as soon as Hefner saw the scene in which Robbie is completely nude from head to toe, he wanted her for Playboy.

Without knowing her name, Hefner wanted Robbie to pose for his magazine. "She should be in Playboy! Send her a message!" Hefner stated. "We're ready for her. She would be great."

But, Hefner did not even take the time to learn what the Mary Queen of Scots' name was before publically putting out an offer for her to be a Playmate.

"And the girl that plays [Jordan Belfort's] wife in [Wolf of Wall Street] is very, very pretty."

Though many may find it insulting that Hefner would not even bother to learn the first name of the woman he wanted as his latest centerfold in Playboy, it was not because of this that Robbie turned the long-time men's magazine publisher down.

She had reasons of her own that when revealed made it clear that a stint in Playboy would never be happening.

Margot Robbie Felt She Had "Put Her Family Through Enough"

In what ended up being the movie that gave Robbie her breakout role, it was a movie that was not necessarily one that the Babylon star wanted to watch with her parents. And given how much Robbie showed of herself while in character as Naomi, she did not feel a recreation for glossy print pages was necessary to do.

Upon hearing about the offer from Hefner, Robbie explained that she had "put her family through enough." Because of this, there would be no collaboration with Playboy or any magazine for a nude centerfold.

After all, Robbie had made a name for herself, was a celebrity, had offers coming in, and plenty of money. The only one that would truly be benefiting from a shoot for Hefner for Playboy is Hefner himself.

Robbie Doesn't Regret The Nude Scenes In The Wolf Of Wall Street

While there was no desire to pose for Playboy, that does not mean that Robbie had any regrets when it came to shooting her scenes for The Wolf of Wall Street.

This is because the I, Tonya star felt that everything it was scripted for her character to do was important for the development of the character. And because of this, Robbie did the nude scenes, even when offered an out.

"I think nudity for the sake of nudity is shameful," Robbie explained. "If they've put it in just so that a girl gets her top off, then that's disgusting. And you can always tell."

There is a flip side to this as well though. And the Barbie star explains why it is equally as bad to not fully be in character when filming.

"But I also think it's disgusting when someone would have got naked in real life, in the film they conveniently leave their bra on, or hold up the bed sheet," Robbie stated. "Seeing someone being choreographed into being covered up irritates me just as much."

This is why when she was given the option by The Wolf of Wall Street director, Martin Scorsese, to tone down the full-frontal scene by being more covered up, Robbie would not hear of it.

"When Marty [Scorsese] was trying to help me out, and said in the scene where she seduces Jordan perhaps I could have a robe on, I said she wouldn't," Robbie explained. "She has to be naked. She's laying her cards on the table."

And it is this authenticity to every part of her character from The Wolf of Wall Street, be it the look, the accent, and the personality that has made Robbie the successful actress that she is today.
