In over three decades of being in the show business, Marilyn Manson has explored a variety of fields outside his goth world. Acting is one of them. We've seen him without his cakey makeup as Ron Tully in Sons of Anarchy and in numerous cameos including a humorous one-on-one scene with John Malkovich in The New Pope. Fans are even looking forward to more acting stints from the rocker. Contrary to what most might assume, Manson actually has a knack for acting. It may be driven by his desire to escape reality and take on a different persona which is also why he always wears makeup.

Manson, who's currently facing a number of sexual assault allegations, has always been into visual transformation. It started with him wearing his mother's wig as a toddler and concealing his bad complexion with makeup as a teenager. Later on, he simply developed pleasure in shocking people or making them uncomfortable. Despite the typical negative reactions drawn by his appearance, Manson has actually inspired artistic choices like the look of an iconic character from the 2004 animated series The Batman.

This 'The Batman' Villain Was Based On Marilyn Manson

The Batman is known for its avant-garde redesigns of Batman's villains. Goth Riddler was definitely a showstopper — a less cheerful version that's sleeker with that straight long hair and androgynous physique. The creators of the series admitted that this Riddler was based on none other than Marilyn Manson himself. You can tell by the animated character's much colder personality and the darker colors used in his costume.

This isn't the first time an animated character was based on the Sweet Dreams singer. Gordon Agrippa from the anime series Black Clover was also inspired by Manson. Agrippa is a strange Magic Knight who also wears Halloweenish makeup. He's a pale-skinned slender guy with exaggerated black eyeshadows around his red eyes who wears black nail polish and lipstick. The character resembles Marilyn Manson in The Fight Song music video, minus the long hair.

Marilyn Manson Said No To Voicing Goth Riddler

The goth Riddler is voiced by Robert Englund, the actor who played A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, the grotesque serial killer. It was originally offered to Manson himself. After all, he was the inspiration for the character. Still, The Beautiful People singer didn't feel like doing it. Fans find it odd since they think it would have been great publicity for the rocker. Manson also refused the offer of voicing himself in Family Guy.

A Reddit user posted on the Marilyn Manson subreddit, asking "What did Clone High have that Batman and Family Guy didn't?" Manson was featured in the adult animated series, Clone High and he agreed to do the voice acting for himself. Other Redditors answered the question saying "I think the Family Guy one was a case of him not liking the script" and that "He also was asked to play Scarecrow in one of the Batman movies, but I think his tour schedule conflicted with when they were going to be filming."

Indeed, the We Are Chaos singer is known for turning down roles due to his busy schedule. For instance, he was supposed to be on the mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Stand. He was going to make a cameo as The Kid, a psychopath who is obsessed with Coors beer and drives a nice classic hot rod. Premiere and finale director of the show, Josh Boone revealed that Manson's schedule didn't align with their filming schedule. He also revealed that the rocker's cover of  The End by The Doors didn't make it in the show as planned because it was "too expensive to use."

Another Reddit user also noted, "Tiffany’s lover in the [Bride of Chucky] was also based off of him they asked him if he wanted to play the role but he turned them down. I think that would have been great For him too." Damien Baylock, the dork-turned-metalhead suitor of Tiffany was originally made for Marilyn Manson. He expressed interest in the role but eventually declined. Alexis Arquette ended up getting the role.

Marilyn Manson Has Done Other Comic Book-Based Projects

Marilyn Manson has no problem with Batman or any comic book-based gigs, whether that's DC or Marvel. He voiced the Smiling Man in the 2020 Marvel movie The New Mutants and had his songs SAY10 and The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles used in The Punisher. The rock star even said in his autobiography that he collected Spawn and Venom action figures. He was also photographed a few times with the late Marvel Comics creative leader, Stan Lee. As for DC Comics, Manson's 2015 song Warship My Wreck was part of the official soundtrack for Dark Nights: Death Metal, a seven-part comic book series.
