“Clean freak.” “Bad gas.” “Open to multiple husbands.” These aren’t exactly the type of descriptions you would expect to find, say, on somebody’s Tinder profile. Nonetheless, sixteen singles used these very qualifiers in hopes of finding a spouse. Unfortunately, that didn’t exactly work out for them.
Over the years the matchmaking reality show Married At First Sight has received around 65,000 applications from folks looking for love. Many of those hopefuls, however, have some unique qualities— including bad gas and polygamist dreams —that have prevented them from finding an adequate match.
Until now. The new spinoff show Unmatchables will pair some of the quirkiest people with each other. The goal? Finding love for even the most alternative of the alternative personalities.
What To Expect From The New Spinoff
The dating world can be a cruel and usual place. But for the sixteen Atlanta singles on Unmatchables, #thesinglelife is particularly difficult to crack.
That is certainly the case for Ashli, a pastor’s daughter who signed up for the show after going eleven years without kissing a man. She feels uncomfortable with the idea of physical intimacy and hasn’t taken many steps to change that.
While Ashli may not yet be ready for a full-blown marriage, she definitely needs to put herself out there. And that’s just what Pastor Calvin Robertson and Dr. Vivian Coles are going to help cast members, like Ashli, achieve.
In each self-contained episode, the marriage experts will help two singles manifest a physical and emotional transformation. After taking the experts’ advice to heart, the singles will venture out on a date together and put their new skills to use.
The Most Unusual Cast To-Date
Ashli is far from the only member of the cast who has extreme dating difficulties.
One participant, Megan, is facing extreme dietary challenges. She is only willing to eat two foods: chicken nuggets and macaroni ‘n cheese. As a result, it has been really difficult for Meghan to participate in the dating world.
Another cast member, Ervin, has already broken a grand total of four engagements. His past behavior has earned him the nickname “Runaway Groom,” and we certainly understand why! If that all weren’t already complicated enough, Ervin has an obsession with health and fitness that makes it difficult for him to connect with others.
If Ervin’s biggest challenge is running away, however, not all of the contestants even have anyone to run away from. Mechanical engineer Niraj has spent so much time designing robots that he struggles to see women as more than “numerical variables” (yikes, Niraj!). He has been single for fifteen years, partially because he is always on the lookout for the “perfect” woman.
