Married at First Sight first aired seven years ago and has become one of the most famous social experiments. The social experiment involves three marriage experts using scientific matchmaking methods to determine each couple and all of the couples have never met before their wedding day. The show documents the couples for about two months and then they decide on the last day of the show (which is also called decision day) if they want to stay married or get divorced.

The cast members have no idea who they are going to be married to, but they tell the experts what they look for in a partner before they get married. They don't always get what they want though. Some of the matches have completely gone wrong and led to disastrous results. Here are 10 of the shortest marriages on the social experiment show.

10 Mia Bally And Tristan Thompson (Season 7)

Mia Bally and Tristan Thompson’s marriage started out with a disaster and a dramatic twist that fans weren’t expecting. “Tristan found out Mia had been charged with stalking and was arrested at the airport. He discovered this while they were on the way to their honeymoon, which wasn't an ideal way to start their marriage. They decided to stay together on decision day, but they later divorced,” according to ScreenRant. Although they tried to make their marriage work, it still didn’t last long after the cameras were gone.

9 Kate Sisk And Luke Cuccurullo (Season 8)

Kate Sisk and Luke Cuccurullo’s marriage was doomed from the beginning. Luke admitted he was disappointed when he first saw Kate and that was just the start of everything to come. “Their problems were apparent but Kate and Luke seemed reluctant to truly address them. It soon came to light that Luke told Kate to lie about their intimate life. He told her repeatedly that she ‘repulsed’ him and that he felt ‘nothing’ when he kissed her. However, they were intimate multiple times during their marriage,” according to ScreenRant. Dr. Pepper tried to help them work through their issues, but in the end, she decided it was better for both of them to get divorced and they didn’t make it to decision day.

8 Mindy Shiben And Zach Justice (Season 10)

Mindy Shiben and Zach Justice seemed to have chemistry when they first met, but Zach’s lack of commitment to Mindy caused the marriage to completely fall apart. After the couples return from their honeymoon, they’re supposed to move in together, but Zach refused to live with Mindy. And on top of that, he began sending flirty texts to her friend. According to Monsters and Critics, “Zach Justice is one of the most hated villains in Married at First Sight history. This couple had a tumultuous relationship and didn’t even make it to decision day.”

7 Jessica Castro And Ryan DeNino (Season 2)

Jessica Castro and Ryan DeNino seemed like they were going to make it at the very beginning, but things started going downhill quickly. “Jessica accused Ryan of cheating on her throughout the marriage and filed a restraining order against him. Jessica alleged that he told her he would break her into pieces and make her family disappear, including her dog,” according to ScreenRant. They made it to decision day, but both of them chose to divorce when the season ended.

6 Davina Kullar And Sean Varricchio (Season 2)

Davina Kullar and Sean Varriccho had some chemistry at their wedding, but they learned soon after that that they have a lot of differences. Although they made it to decision day, they didn’t act like they were married for most of the season. According to ScreenRant, “Their decision to live apart during the process was probably the reason why their marriage fell apart. On decision day, the experts asked if they put their all into the process, and they answered no. Despite their marriage not working out on the show, Davina and Sean both married other people after their divorce, and both are parents.”

5 Ashley Doherty And David Norton (Season 3)

Ashley Doherty and David Norton had problems the whole time they were married. David seemed to have more feelings for Ashley and wanted to try to make it work, but his dishonesty caused Ashley to leave. According to ScreenRant, “Throughout the season, the couple struggled, so Ashley choosing divorce was not a surprise to anyone except David. After the show, it was revealed that David had a criminal record and Ashley was never notified. Ashley said that there were times when David slammed the door and got in her face, but that was never shown on the show.”

4 Molly Duff And Jonathan Francetic (Season 6)

Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic weren’t meant to be together like fans hoped for when they got married. Molly got caught lying about the problems in their marriage, so everything fell apart between them. But Jon ended up finding his perfect match anyway. According to ScreenRant, “Lack of chemistry and a feeling of being disconnected were two reasons why Molly and Jonathan’s marriage broke down. They got into bad arguments. Jonathan recorded one of them to show the experts how Molly was talking to him when the cameras were not around. They ended up divorcing. Jonathan later got engaged to Dr. Jessica Griffith, who eventually stepped down from her role on the show.”

3 Amber Bowles And Matthew Gwynne (Season 9)

Amber Bowles and Matthew Gwynne had a feeling they weren’t supposed to be together when they met and they ended up being right. “Matthew Gwynne admitted he knew the marriage between him and Amber Bowles wasn’t going to work within 15 minutes of meeting her… The honeymoon went relatively well, but ordinary life is when the problems started. Matt would often not come home, which would trigger her abandonment issues. He tried to say it was to give her space when, in reality, he was drinking with his friends,” according to Monsters and Critics. Not only did Matt go drinking with his friends, he also left the bar with a woman and admitted he cheated at the season’s reunion. They surprisingly made it to decision day, but it’s no wonder why they decided to divorce.

2 Taylor Dunklin And Brandon Reid (Season 10)

Taylor Dunklin and Brandon Reid are another couple who barely made it to decision day. They had some chemistry at first, but over time things got so bad between them they could hardly stand to be around each other. According to ScreenRant, “These two were at each other’s throats from the moment they said, ‘I do.’ Pair this issue with Brandon’s dislike of the production crew, which hindered his marriage, and time was ticking on their union. The pair divorced but Brandon sought an annulment. He found out he was not meant to be matched with Taylor in the first place. The judge granted the annulment.”

1 Heather Seidel And Derek Schwartz (Season 4)

Heather Seidel and Derek Schwartz might be the worst matched couple in Married at First Sight history. “Derek was accused of being an alcoholic and Heather did not like how physical her new husband was. They got divorced after ten short days,” according to ScreenRant. As of right now, they have had the shortest marriage out of all of the other couples that have appeared on the show. The two of them had so many issues from the beginning that they could barely even look at each other anymore.
