Directed and co-written by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, Marvel's Eternals features an ensemble cast led by Gemma Chan in the role of Sersi. The star-studded cast also includes two actors from beloved fantasy show Game of Thrones, reuniting on screen after starring together in the first three seasons of the series.

While fans are eager to watch the new movie, some think the hate towards the new MCU adventure feels a little off and is possibly linked to the movie's LGBTQ+ and racial representation.

Why The 'Eternals' Hate? Marvel Fans Ask

Out on November 5, the movie has earned mixed reviews after press and preview screenings. Based on the Marvel Comics immortal alien race of the same name, Eternals takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and focuses on the Eternals, powerful alien beings living on Earth among humans and reuniting to save the planet from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.

Alongside Gemma Chan, Eternals also stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, as well as Game of Thrones alumni, Kit Harington and Richard Madden.

Ahead of general release, some fans are questioning the negative reviews the movie has been garnering.

"My brain cannot comprehend all this Eternals hate. It definitely feels.... targeted..." one fan wrote on Twitter.

"People review bombed Black Panther and Captain Marvel too, and look how those turned out. Absolute blockbusters, both of them. Haters always gonna hate. About time Marvel stopped catering to the normies who haven't read a single Marvel comic or aren't invested in these characters," one person noted.

'The Movie Doesn't Deserve The Hate'

"Eternals was great, hearing all the bad reviews definitely helped make the movie 10x better to be honest, the movie doesn't deserve the hate," was another comment.

"I feel like at this point there are two groups of people who adamantly hate Eternals: -conservatives upset about diversity -film nerds who take the fact that it’s directed by Chloe Zhao extremely personally for some reason Some other people are “meh” but those two groups r MAD," one user also said.

Others, however, just support the idea that the movie might simply be lackluster.

"'Critics only hate Eternals and tanked it on Rotten Tomatoes because it has a gay couple and they’re homophobic!' Do you think potentially a lot of them just don’t think it’s very good," one person wrote.

With general release just around the corners, Marvel fans and detractors alike are about to be able to make their own mind.

Eternals will be released on November 5.
