Phase 4 of the MCU is well and truly underway! The latest release from the Marvel Cinematic Universe saw fans rush to the cinemas to meet a brand new group of righteous heroes, arguably even more powerful than the iconic Avengers. The arrival of Eternals was a huge step forwards for Marvel as the movie's unique style intertwined with the action hero genre of a Marvel feature bought forth a brand new format into the world of its cinematic universe.

The talent that fueled this film was unquestionable. With Academy Award-winning director, Chloé Zhao, spearheading the feature and an impressive star-studded cast including Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and more, it is easy to pinpoint where the project’s success stems from. Beyond its world-threatening plotline, the film is centered around the relationships that the core characters form with each other and the world that they have been instructed to protect. But what did these talented actors have to say about being a part of such an epic project?

9 Their Differences Made Them Bond

The diversity of this action-packed feature is clear to see from the moment the film starts. Its inclusive range of ethnicities, genders, ages, and abilities mark this movie as arguably one of the most progressive Marvel films to date. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the cast discussed what it had been like working with each other. In one particular moment, comedy star Kumail Nanjiani highlighted how their differences had caused them to bond and develop a far more realistic family dynamic.

8 Everyone Was Down To Earth Despite Their Stardom

Later on in the interview, leading lady Salma Hayek continued to describe the different feelings that working with such a star-studded cast had evoked from her. In particular, she focused on her initial thoughts on Game Of Thrones star Kit Harrington and how she believed he would be a "diva". She also highlighted how terrified she had been to work with Hollywood legend Angelina Jolie before mentioning that Jolie, alongside everyone else, had actually been extremely down-to-earth and kind.

7 They Were Cast Because Of Their Resemblance To Their Characters

As the interview progressed the subject of each role and the actors’ relationship to their roles arose. The cast was asked how they had related to their characters. In response to this, they revealed that Zhao herself had chosen them accordingly as she truly believed that each actor represented the character that they were cast to portray.

6 It Didn’t Feel Like A Typical Marvel Movie

Undoubtedly one of the most standout factors of the film was its breathtaking cinematography. Its filming locations and landscapes spanned from busy city life to ancient ruins and even large forests. In a special behind the scenes video uploaded on Stream Wars' Youtube channel, leading lady Gemma Chan highlights how the detail to the background in which the storyline plays out made the film feel unique and different from other Marvel movies.

5 It Was An Emotional Role For Some

Later on in the video, the cast spoke out about what it had been like to work with Zhao and the rest of the cast. Brian Tyree Henry, who portrayed Phastos in the film, answered the question with a deep level of warmth and gratitude as he stated that upon the cast all coming together and seeing themselves in their roles, he began to cry out of sheer emotion.

4 It Was An Overwhelming Experience for all

In a video posted on the official film’s Instagram page, we see an array of footage of the cast in the Hollywood world premiere of Eternals. During the video different members of the cast highlight how the experience and mass support from the fans was an overwhelming sensation for them. Tyree Henry further expressed his shock as he highlighted how “never in a million years” did he think he would be where he was.

3 Filming In Certain Locations Felt Surreal

In an interview with Digital Spy, UK locals Chan, Madden, and Harrington opened up about what it had been like for them to shoot a scene in Camden, London. Harrington was the first to reminisce as he highlighted how shocked he had been to find out that he would be filming so close to his own home. Madden later on added to this as he stated that it had been surreal to film in a place he had “gotten drunk” in and become so accustomed to.

2 Some Of The Most Adorable Moments Were Improvised

As previously mentioned, at its core, the film focuses on the relationships between the characters themselves and the world around them. With an electric group dynamic, it may come as a shock to some to hear about the improvised scenes between certain characters. In an Interview with AndyMcCarrollMovies, Irish actor Barry Keoghan highlighted how his heartwarming on-screen relationship with co-star Lauren Ridloff, and their adorable flirtatious moments, had been completely improvised.

1 Some Of Them Manifested Being Cast In Their Roles

Later on in the interview, McCarroll highlights how Keoghan had previously tweeted at Stan Lee to plead the Marvel legend to make him a superhero. He highlighted how despite him never having met the man behind Marvel, he "must have been listening". Keoghan then went on to mention how he was a strong believer in manifesting and the rewards that came with exerting the correct energies into certain things.
