You may not know the 25-year-old Chinese-British actress yet, but this talented and young star landed the lead role of Alina Starkov. With already over fifty-five thousand followers on her Instagram account, which she only opened in December of 2020, the actress, who plays an orphan mapmaker, is the main character. Starkov possesses incredible powers in this epic fantasy that’ll make her credibility as an actress grow, with some impressive credits under her belt already.

The “whimsical junkyard trash goblin,” as per her Instagram biography, has appeared in the All About Eve theatre production and will appear in the upcoming film, Last Night in Soho.

9 Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev

If you search the name “Archie Renaux” on Instagram, you’ll promptly come across many fan accounts of the English actor and model already – and the show has still not debuted!

Just 23-years-old, Renaux, another lesser-known face in Hollywood, landed the role of Malyen, Alina’s oldest friend in the Grishaverse franchise. Cast to play the role of an orphan, Renaux, who we know the ladies will go gaga over, has two vital career roles on the horizon: one in Marvel’s Morbius and another in Voyagers.

8 Ben Barnes as General Kirigan

Alas, an actor that you may have already caught a few glimpses of on the big screen – Ben Barnes. Remember how we all wished we could walk through a wardrobe and end up in Narnia as children? Well, if so, does Prince Caspian ring a bell? The dapper English actor, who is taking on the role of General Kirigan in the upcoming series, is widely known for his role in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Barnes, who plays a villain with powers, also captured hearts as Logan in Westworld. We’re just about ready to see what he has up his sleeve this time because we’re already in.

7 Luke Pasqualino as David Kostyk

Lucas or Luke Pasqualino – you’ve heard that name blurted out before, correct? That’s probably because he’s every girl’s crush since he first starred in Skins as the handsome Freddie McClair.

Although he’s won many hearts with his peculiar good looks, the actor has other impressive credits to his name, like that of the lead role in The Musketeers, and as Paolo in The Borgias. With appearances in various other sitcoms and films, we’re looking forward to his depiction of the “quieter” one in the magical Grishaverse.

6 Kit Young as Jesper Fahey

This relative unknown, with a theatre background, joins Li and others in the Grishaverse as a sharpshooter with an unfortunate gambling problem.

The Oxford-born 26-year-old actor, who we catch a glimpse of with his main man – aka his pistol – in the trailer, is of Scottish and Ugandan descent. This fresh face has a lot coming his way though, as he will star in another Netflix release alongside big names, The School for Good and Evil. Be on the lookout!

5 Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik

Game of Thrones enthusiasts, you’ll surely recognize this face!

Galligan, who’s another actor on the impeccable team with a theatre background, is a GoT alumna – yes, we’re talking about the beloved Sarra. The Irish actress is certainly no stranger to the fantasy genre and grandiose amounts of fur. You’ll have to watch the show to see what her powers are in this new magical universe.

4 Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar

Oh, hey there, American boy!

The actor and writer, who has quite an aesthetically pleasing Instagram account, is set to play Matthias Helvar in the anticipated series.

What’s even more exciting? This will be Skogman’s acting debut and his first credited role!

3 Julian Kostov as Fedyor Kaminsky

Also joining the cast is multilingual and multitalented Bulgarian actor, Julian Kostov. With upcoming film roles and precedent credits for various television shows and films, Kostov is much more than that, too. One quick glimpse at his Instagram account, and you’ll find yourself gazing at his athletic build – the actor is a former professional swimmer. As a producer and director, he has filmmaking credits, too!

2 Daisy Head as Genya Safin

The magical world of Shadow and Bone will also include British actress, Daisy Head, who you may not recognize unless you’re familiar with British television.

Besides appearing in BBC’s dramas, she played a vital role in the American series, Guilt, as the main character, and subsequently had the main role in Harlots as well.

1 Julia Ubrankovics as Milana

With over a decade of experience, the award-winning actress has experience that is similar to that of her Shadow and Bone colleagues.

Ubrankovics, who can definitely strike a pose in front of the lens, as well has a theatre background. After her start in the latter profession, she rapidly got a role as the main character in the European television series, The Teacher.

Also the owner and co-founder of J.U.S.T. Toys Productions, Shadow and Bone’s Milana has appeared on the screen alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow. A face that we’re going to love, Ubrankovics actually made her debut on Hawaii Five-O.
