Singing superstar Beyoncé has publicly supported Meghan Markle - two days after the Duchess's earth shattering interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The "Drunk In Love" singer praised the soon-to-be mother of two on her personal website Tuesday.

"Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership. We are all strengthened and inspired by you," Queen Bey wrote beneath an image that showed her meeting the Royal at the London premiere of the Lion King in July 2019.

In a separate post to her website on International Women's Day she praised 12 women she declares as "rule breakers."

Meghan was one of the dozen women who featured in the post.

Alongside the Duchess was Jane Fonda and Democrat politicians Stacey Abrams, Maxine Waters and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The Grammy winner wrote alongside the images: "For those who created their own way to tell their stories, found other avenues to get to the destinations, and broke every rule in the process, We See You! We salute each and every one of you on this International Women's Day."

The June 2019 premiere of the Lion King was reportedly the first time that Meghan and Beyoncé had met. Prince Harry, Jay-Z and Disney boss Bob Iger were also present during the red carpet meeting.

Markle's husband, Prince Harry, was famously caught on camera telling Iger that Meghan was "interested" in doing voiceover work. While many fans praised Beyoncé for her public support for Meghan, Anti-Duchess protesters have come out against the singer.

"What is inspiring about a person who was handed a royal wedding, and royal title and access to privilege like few people on this planet? She decided to throw it all away, throwing the Royal family, the Monarchy and the whole British nation under the bus. There's nothing laudable about this achievement, dear Beyoncé," one person commented.

"Meghan and Harry openly admitted to not wanting to leave all the royal trimmings of wealth, privileges and fame. They just wanted it all on their terms and when not granted it all by the Queen they were left with no option but to leave," a second added.

"Beyoncé should speak for herself. We are all NOT strengthened and inspired by the likes of a manipulative and disingenuous person such as MM  - who makes outrageous claims in a one-sided interview without any evidence to back up what she says," a third chimed in.

"Beyoncé sees Meghan as a victim. Well Meghan will looove to hear that. Seriously she will love it," a fourth added.
